In sixth grade me and my best friend wanted to perform this song for the school’s talent show, so to do that we had to get an approval from my teacher so we can use this song. So I printed out the lyrics and gave it to my teacher and she said no to this song. I had no idea why back then and I got sad because I thought it was just a song about birthdays. Now I understand..

What that says to me is that this is some next level songwriting, It literally takes on new meanings as we age. @listener01 I think you're missing the point. It's just how the lyrics are presented in the video. Also, you've just proven to everyone that you're not exactly the brightest, as you rely on Wikipedia to tell you something as pointless as 'Katy Perry uses ghost writers' (not an exact quote). Plus, what is the matter with using ghost writers? Obviously there are people with certain talents that others don't possess. In Katy Perry's case, she has a star-studded voice that people adore and some would die for. However, if the ghost writer bit is true, that just means she can't write her own music. Yes, that can pose as a pathetic waste of talent to those that have narrow, fatigued minds. For artists like Kendrick Lamar, Luke Bryan, Bastille, and many other artists, they have the ability to write their own lyrics. Not every artist consistently uses ghost writers. Some artists have a golden moment once every 4-5 years where they produce pure brilliance, and other times in between they struggle so they call in some help. I may be coming off like a hypocrite, but you really need to lay off of those people that are giving positive insight. It really makes you look like the poster child for Birth Control. I only chose to reply so I could humiliate you for making this person's comment seem like it meant something it didn't even come close to meaning. Next time, think twice before you make comments like that and remind people that you’re about as useful as a screen door in a submarine.
