I can´t understand how the supreme judges in the US can be so strongly defined by their political affiliation? Does that not defy the meaning of a judge who is meant to make an unbiased decision according to facts and arguments presented to him/her? They should be chosen by their track record not by which political party they support.

Is there something wrong with the concept of an unbiased Supreme Court judge? I know, we all have our biases but if you are a professional lawyer or judge, no-one would be able to tell what they were from your judgements or arguments. You would be following the law and the constitution. Is that too weird a concept?
