@@KaveManAquatics bro nice video I need your help. In general there's ammonia in water but I have API Master test kit I used after treating my water change with API quick start that has bacteria in it my ammonia still reads between .50 and 1.0 ppm little darker than lime green. Test says it should read yellow for negative 0 ppm. I've had this water sitting for over 24 hours with bubbler attached to circulate the water but ammonia hasn't dropped What's your recommendation

Hey so I always stress when adding ammonia blocker, dechlorinator, ETC to the new fresh water. I always used a big bucket and dumped it in after I drain my tank, however I’m going to give the python a try... am I able to fill the tank back up with the tap, and as it’s filling just pour in my solutions? If you do in 80% wanter change all the time it’s not gonna stress the fish, if you don’t do a water change for a long time, and the pH in your tank is really acidic, and all of a sudden you do an 80% water change and make the water very alkaline all of a sudden. The fish stress. Very good sir!

I have Glofishes that I had for two years and I always every once a month did a 100% water change and they were NEVER stressed. Until ppl on Reddit told me that’s bad to only do %30 water changes every week and when I did that I noticed my fishes getting stressed that one died :/ I feel like I agree with your statement that you should take out more and more water as long as your fishes can handle it.
@KaveManAquatics3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! By changing to only 30% water changes you were leaving more nitrates in the tank than they were used to. If your fish can handle big water changes then its always better to give them fresh, new, full of nutrients, no nitrate carrying water! 😊

I bought the submergible pump you referenced in this video. It worked like a charm. It does not come with tubing and I used what I had. There are 3 different heads for this pump and one of them fit my tubing. I ran the tubing out of the house over the deck railing into a cart. I used this water to water my plants in the yard. After I took out 1/2 of the water, we reversed it put the pump in the sink, ran the water and refilled the tank after putting Prime in the water. We made sure the temp was the same. One thing to note: on the reverse you need to be careful and put the pump underwater the whole time you are adding water back in. My little sink in the downstairs bath is not deep so next time - it will go in the big sink. Reminder to make sure the sink is spotless before doing this. I have ordered the salt and stress products. This saved me probably 2 hours. I always use my tank water for my outside plants and hauling the water out of the tank and into the yards takes a lot of time. Always helpful. thanks Karen

You rock man! Thanks for the videos. I’m a beginner, we got advice at petco for my daughters new Tetra hifins. Well unfortunately after about 3 hours, our hifins went to fish heaven. We were completely unaware of the nitrogen cycle and, while we waited 3 hours to introduce the fish, added the dechlor and also made sure the water temp was exactly 78, within a couple hours they were gulping air at the surface. My plan now is to introduce some good bacteria and some live plants and the continue to check the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels for the next couple weeks. After that we will go back and get some new fishies. Wish we would have found your videos sooner!

Learned a lot from you over the past few days going over your beginner playlist. Technically, I'm not a beginner but I feel like one because I've been out of the hobby for 12 years. Very important point you made about the bacteria on surfaces and not in the water channel. I didn't know that.

Thank you. This was very helpful. I know what to do now! PS I want to get 2 Acolotls and I know I need to put them in sand. I'm trying to learn as much as I can so I can set up a proper habitat for them. If you know more about this, please let me know!!

I like that you add all the de chlorination to the tank then add the water straight in from the tap. I have been treating and pouring individual buckets. I might have to switch up my method

It’s safe this way and you’ll make your water changes 1 step easier 😁

Love the videos you make, I used to WC every week but I'm going to only start doing it when I get to 40ppm nitrate, keep records to see how much % needs to be removed to get back to under 10 ppm

Thanks, Great video, I have just got into the hobby and enjoying it. I have a 66 gallon tank with 8 cichlids. Do you add the conditioners to treat the quantity of new water?, or to treat the whole tank capacity?
