While I absolutely appreciate hearing how they sound comparatively, I find it very useful to hear them DESCRIBED (by an experienced pianist, even). Especially now with the pandemic and low stocks, I had a hard time finding a good variety to try myself, so it's useful to hear how they FEEL in the hand, how the key action feels like, how springy, soft, hard, easy to control, unpredictable, consistent, etc. Obviously that's on the subjective side, but luckily we have multiple reviewers around here...

The purpose for getting it is to learn playing piano with weighted keys instead of a traditional keyboard, which I have had for many years. Korg D! sounds too much like a keyboard where the kawai actually has a natural sound, tested both out at my local music store next to a few grand piano's with some external speakers the kawai does win this match if you go for the Piano voices.
@Kausemus3 жыл бұрын
I think the piano on Korg was better (I just like that less clear, darker tone) but the other sounds were better on Kawai. Also, Korg would probably win the "how it feels while playing" because of the RH3 but without testing I can't really tell.

@ErnestoAvilez926 жыл бұрын
I personally would go with the D1 if you don't really care about the sound, because if your just a pianist like i am then the D1 is cheaper than the ES110 and if you want more sounds, the D1 has a more sounds and a better action with the RH3 than the ES110. I use a DAW to get more sounds so i dont really look for a lot feature or a lot of sounds in a Digital Piano, i go for Digital pianos that have a good feeling keyboard action close to a real Grand Piano. So in the end they are both great Compact Digitial Pianos . Hope this helps you out.

I am tempted by the Korg as these two are the actual one I still cant decide which to get but I have a feeling a will go for Korg as the Keybed for me is simply the best (tried on the G1 and SV1 which also use RH3) only downthing and is quiet a shame on D1 is that does not have Split Zone. Keybed is firm and precise not too firm of course where the Kawai I have heard is a bit bouncier instead. Nice playing by the way and thanks for this exact comparison although would be nice if you could add some comments and thoughts of yours.

I bought a Roland FP30 in the end. Just has some issues when connected via USB, it creates some sort of electrical loop with the Headphone out. Not too bothered though as I have another MIDI Keyboard anyway. I was quiet convinved to get this Korg model until I found that Roland and Kawai had ivory feel keybed which actracted me a lot and so I decided for the Roland as it was a slight better keybed for my taste and quiet cheaper that the Kawai at the time even though the Kawai I think is more complete as an instrument in terms of connectivity.

@cnoriga3 жыл бұрын
@@CodexHunter-tn1jx Yes a bit though and over sometime after I bought it but also seen the same on other pianos. The shock absorbing material supporting the keys wears out the more you play it. I think happens to all sort of pianos at least on that price bracket. It's not that bad anyway. I also use an heavy duty keyboard stand which helps contain the knocking sound of the keys to the chassis itself instead of having it resonating through the floor.

Sound is a matter of taste. Practical,for live with other musicinstruments,the sound diff between those piano's is not thát issue. But build for live,the D1 wins. The total opposit is the Roland fp30 by the lack of the two L+R 6,3mm jack outs and the volume button isnt there (necessary for live) while the keypad is very great (almost simular as D1).Also for live,the sound of the D1 is more mono(more energie in the middle of L+R ,its compacter then Kawai) and it works better for live because stereo spread of a sound loses energie in the mix (your position with other instruments)..

I think no need to compare sounds of these pianos 'cos in both ones sound is of low quality and better to use them as MIDI controllers with VSTs! The more important aspect - the quality and durability of keybeds, the action. Which one is more realistic and closer to acoustic piano? This video demonstrates only sound of both, not their features
@amaurythewarrior2 жыл бұрын
people saying one is better than the other need to remember not all acoustic pianos sound the same, then where you put the microphones, how you eq the sound etc also has a huge impact. i think the sound of the D1 might a bit more pop, probably recorded closer to the strings, maybe EQd more, as opposed to the kawai sounding maybe more natural, with more ambience. but saying one sounds more realistic or detailed doesn't make more sense. both are clearly recorded on actual acoustic pianos. obviously, preferring one over the other is no surprize, everyone is different
