I bought a KLX 300 to replace my RM125 that I recently sold. Is this the perfect woods bike for a weekend warrior? Come ride along with me while I give you my thoughts on this machine.

Experienced rider here, these are really fun bikes. Only on very fast open terrain did I ever feel like I pushed it past its limits. Its fantastic on trails and woods. I had one 2 years ago for a buddy bike to go with my KDX. Myself and friends all preferred the KLX cuz it was so much easier to ride with the smooth grunty motor and how good it handles, even rougher single track. I ended up buying a new 300 dual sport cuz of the R and that really isnt too much different than the R after addressing the airbox and sprockets.

I just recently picked up a 300r and it's such a fun bike. Bone stock it's quite impressive and handles really well. Nice trails!

I loved my KLX250b1 in 1979 it was awesome.......I did need a few De-restrictions too it but boy I had some fun on that....hope you enjoy too.

Bought my 22 beginning of 23 and fell in love with it. After hitting a tree, smashing my hand and bending the stock bars I made my first mods. Went with pro taper bars, pillow top grips and Acerbis X factor guards. Now that winter is setting in I plan to add a pro circuit full exhaust and dynojet commander. She runs lean from the factory and sounds like a lawnmower 😂. Plus a new exhaust system will shed about 10 lbs off her.

Nice video! What a cool trail. Looks like a solid choice for a trail bike! Like you, I've owned a multitude of converted MX bikes but there really is no substitute for a purpose built trailbike. Congrats!

Yeah sometimes I think we get sucked into the idea that we can modify them to work haha. I will say after riding several off road models that they work much better than a modded mx bike!

I got this bike too mines a 2022 got it brand new, love everything about it minus the weight you’ll get outta breath pretty quick trying to push this thing up hill.

This is one of the better user review videos on the 300r. Thanks for taking the time to put it together! I’m a mid-40s Dad, 5’11”, 205lbs. My three sons and I are just getting started with trail riding. I’ve been trying to decide between a KLX230r, KLX300r and CRF250f. The heavier weight of the 300r has been my main concern with that bike, and the fact that my “first” bike will be eventually be the next stepping stone hand-me-down bike for my sons when they outgrow their KLX140s (I think they’d move better to a 230r of crf250f over the 300r). For that reason, I’m thinking of getting a KLX230r for now and then adding a Yamaha WR250F as my skills progress. Anyway, great video! : )

Yeah for that particular scenario I'd go with the 230. I have ridden a crf 250f one time shortly and from what I remember it's similar in size to the 230s but I believe heavier. The 300 is a heavy full size bike and would be a big jump from a klx140 for a kid.

Bought the 300 for myself and two 140’s for the boys’ first bikes. They were pretty good size kids when we got them and they outgrew them the first year. They’re both on full size bikes now and have no problems on the 300. Point being, I think the 300 is twice the bike as the 230 at a really close price point. Might be something to think about 👍.

@@josephtepe3625 I actually wound up getting the 230R about a month ago. So far it's been good for me on the first couple of rides. I can definitely see moving up to a 300R or WR250F in a year or two.

Excellent review. I love this bike, but it took a few things to make it perfect for me: 1. heavier springs for my bodyweight and riding style 2. Uncorking (opening the airbox, aftermarket exhaust, and an EJK fuel controller) 3. Higher handlebars for my height (6'5) 4. Longer shift lever for my boot size (size 13, the XR650L shift lever works perfect) 5. Protection (skid plate, radiator guards, and hand guards)

That's a lot of what I have planned. How do u like the EJK as opposed to a power commander?

@@MotoFlightGuy I only went with the EJK because it's less expensive and I like being able to make quick adjustments on the fly. I have been happy with it.

Have you tried crf300l? If yes, how was the experience compared to klx?

I ride the same bike after being off of them for about 20 years and I love it. I put bigger pegs on it but don’t plan on doing anything else. I like the soft ride in the woods 👍. I did pick up the new ktm 125xc for the boy and if you get the chance, check those out! Things a blast lol

I'd love to ride one of the ktm 125s or 150s just to compare it to my old rm144
