German and English are distant relatives, at least in their structure. Learning a lanuage that doesn't follow any of the grammatical or phonetic rules your're familiar with is so much harder.
@mfraye12
@mfraye12 7 ай бұрын
English is a Germanic language, so it's relatively easy for a native German speaker to learn English, and vice versa. Japanese and English on the other hand are two of the most different languages from each other, so relatively it's extremely difficult for a native speaker of Japanese to learn English, and vice versa. It's easier for a native Japanese speaker to learn Chinese because of the borrowed writing system and many loanwords, or Korean because of the similar grammatical features.

100% correct. If you don't have native speakers in your area, try finding people on to video chat with. Easy to find friends if you have a hobby like video games. Don't use AI to correct your pronunciation. It's more about muscle control so you need someone to actually look at your mouth to say R and L correctly.

Honestly he is KILLING IT. I don’t know how long he was working at it at this point, but I guarantee I couldn’t pick up even half that much in whatever time it is. I understood everything he was trying to get across, and as someone related to and working with English language learners on the reg I can safely say there’s often a point where you can’t do that.

Jackie Chan only spoke mediocre English before Hollywood, by his own admission, because he learnt English in Australia when he lived here, and found the accent nearly impossible to understand. He COULD, and DID speak it, but even in Hong Kong he never got a lot of practice. His English really improved after his Hollywood career took off. Does a mean Aussie accent though, way better than most US actors.
