Honestly I wasn't too sure if this was really going to work, just seemed too easy. Just did it today on a 2001 ZX11 and sure enough, works just fine. Got her up to 100mph and it ran perfect. I don't know about this adding torque and horsepower, I didn't notice much difference with that. She's screamin' fast anyways though. Thanks for doin the vid man. Saved me a huge headache.

theres a better way to this without cutting anything ..just take that hose and run it st8 into the filtered side of ur air box ...drill a hole in the top front stick that hose in there and ur good to go

1998 - 2003 ZX-9Rs have but one float bowl equalization snorkel tube leading through a separate hole in the bike's frame. The concept for them was to equalize the RAM air pressures in the float bowls to that of the airbox, measured at the forward-most position of the air intake. Therefore, if you streetfighter a ZX-9R by removing its fairings and instead feeding airbox air from the frame air ducts, the float bowl snorkel tube length would only need to be shortened to the same forward position as the two ducts, with an air filter in the snorkel tube to prevent bugs and debris from entering the float bowls. No aibox drilling necessary.

That mod will also shrink the air intake ports a bit since those tubes takes alot room there in the main air port tube.

@zx9roller just did this mod. great work.I now have my top end back! its worth noting that the 5/8 heater hose is essential. i tried it without and it wouldnt get past 10k revs.

DAM FINALLY SOMEONE THAT HAS THE ANSWER !!! ok i have a 98 zx9r i just bought as a project bike but they guy tried to make it street fighter style but once he destroyed the whole front end the bike was have trouble starting an i tried this mod an u my friend are a F&%kin god lol thanks man.

I would assume that the 36 Keihin carbs would be dumping much more fuel into your lower compression engine and does not need the extra velocity/forced air into the cylinders like the higher reving, higher compressin sportbike engines. As for the angle of the carb, you may be ok since your bike has a gravity feed fuel supply and does not have an electric fuel pump like the sport bikes. Dont be skeered, just try it! If it doesnt work switch it back.

It looks like you have solved a lot of peoples problems with this video. But I have to ask ... did you experiment with the length of the extension pipe that you extended out the air box? I know you left it just sticking out the the large tube and behind your mesh, did you try it shorter?

Those 2 tubes are the ones conected on the vacuum unit? I need to pressurized my carbs on my yamaha R1 i want to put a RAM air sistem

Is the 5/8s heater hose really needed? I installed 2 flexible tubes from the float but still have the problem

@TheVearusGroup if your bike has a stumble while above 3000rpm and has the ram air removed and you have a 98-03 zx9R it will give you more power. Basically you are making it a "functioning" ram air system again by placing the vent tubes in the ram tubes again. the ram tube and the vent tube need to be under the same air preasure to function properly.

thanks mate, with the mod i had i was losing power and spluttering at low revs 5th or 6th gear with the misses on the back. with this mod i now have only marginal power loss under the same conditions. mines a 98 zx9 with factory jets and exhaust. any tips on what size pilot jet to change to?

This works for the ZZR/ZX10. Listen to the man and make sure you filter them float pressure hoses

you will have to re jet the carbs because when you head into the wind you get some surging around 50-75mph. pilot jets wont handel the extra air preasure.

Hello, u dont need to go to this extreme to keep the ram air.If curios let me know.I hv a 1998 zx900 streetfighter which never hisses odr chugalugs at any point I tooke the fairing off and simply used the stock hoses that were on the bike.I disconected the hoses to the fairing and simply ran 1 hose to the tee that is on the original hoses and place it center mass under the frontlight assembly thats it .runs great no problems.

i have a 2002 zx6r, have the problem when i remove the ram air. i understand your point, but what some people around here says they have to rejet the carbs? what it means? have to buy a jetcarb pack or what? in case it dosnt works properly...

I put a jet kit in my bike made by factory pro. It comes with multiple jet sizes. I now have 168 outer jets and 172 inner and softer springs for more vacume and quicker throttle response. I also found that a 4 degree timing advance nearly eliminated all sputtering at low revs. I returned my bike to stock with new fairing now. Posting video soon.

Sportbike purists will just have to live with it, streetfighter's aren't going away, but yeah, Japanese engineers beavering away, would shake their heads at mods like this I imagine.

6th gear 3500 rpm up. Couldnt give any throttle and had to run the chokes 1/2 before mod. Now I jetted the bike and bypassed the Exhaust recirculator and no miss.

could u just plug them right off...i have a set of ninja carbs like that for my kz..i have no ram air ...the 36 keihin carbs or already an upgrade from the 32 mikuni ..someone also told me i can't use these carbs because of the angle they sit on ... I've looked at the floats and think they will open and close the needle valves just as long as they are not right upside down...you sport bike guys drive them on one wheel constantly and that changes the angle i don't hear any misses or flooding

It might but ....1st check your plugs. 2nd remove the exhaust recirculator valve and bypass it wit a pice of 1/2 inch copper pipe plug the vacume lines from it. . 3rd check the fuel filter. 4th get back to me and let me know what happens

No gain in performance. This mod only corrects the low pressure drop in the carb from not having the vent tubes at the same pressure as the air velocity going into the engine. The fuel Pools into the cylinder instead of being atomized into a mist and causes a stumble above 3,000 to 4,000 RPM. The higher the RPM the worse it is.

sent you some sugestions on this problem, think your pilot jet size needs increased. Also check the fuel filter, tp sensor and float levels.check your mailfor more info, too much to list here.

I do alot of experimentation on my bikes. Like to find hidden horse power.

Hello! i have a zx6r 1998(streetfighter) and i made your mod....but it dont work properly. I have K&N filter, kit dynojet and complete exhaust system akrapovik. Before a took all the plastik off. it worked great. Can you help?

@madcyote Not sure what that is but i think that is where you take the air valve off and run a 1/2 inch pipe to each side so the exhaust gas goes out the header instead of recirculated in the air box. Correct? If so it is done.

It was ram air before....

Talk to a couple guys about this at track days and heard some horror stories well came to the conclusion if it wasn't made like that from the factory probably shouldn't be done . Maybe a quick fix but in the long run go fuck your shit up. Just my 2 cents .

did that mod worked perfect for a few miles now after 3-4000 rpm it will loose its power and wont perform atall what can i look for to stop this thanks in advance

Anybody do this to a 1998-02 zx6 or a 05-08 zzr 600??. I want to do this mod to my 06 zzr 600. Same exact setup as this zx9.

@marloncs86 A jet kit goes inside your carbs. Basically it modifies the air fuel ratio by replacing your existing jets with biger # better flowing ones. If you do not know about carborators i would sugest you take the bike to a shop to perform the re-jetting as it is time consuming and tedius work and requires even the best mechanic time to adjust the nedels and air fuel ratio and get them just right. Factory Pro sells the best performing jet kits for Kawasaki in my opinion.
