As long as your exhaust has a Co2 sensor screw in you won’t have a check engine. But even without one it’s not super hard to get the light to go away

Slip on exhaust may not work as the catalytic converter will prevent the backfire. Installing full System exhaust will definitely improve the power and improve the backfire capability. Remember, backfire situation occurs when the engine is running rich, meaning with excess fuel. My Ninja650 only backfires at higher revs. So, try revving your beast at higher rpm. Cheers 🍻
