Mine is a 10/02 build in pearl blazing orange ,bought in 07,modified with two brothers titanium exhausts,PC3, DNA aircleaner and top, speedo healer. Dyno tested at 132.16 RWHP, Michelin pilot power 2ct tyres, re sprung the front forks with ohlin springs and still on the original rear over- sprung shock. Braided lines and new pads ,new chain and sprockets ,is all i have done in maintaince,but the oil and filter is changed before winter each year and coolant replaced every 2 years. Lovely underated sport cruiser,and was great on a track day. Just a great all rounder ,improved by fitting a Corbin after market seat.

Just saved an 06 Z1000 last week from being broken up for parts and decided to buy for myself. There’s lots of work to be done, sticky brakes and maybe a new cam-chain. She’s been standing a long time and has covered 88,500Km‘s. Work due to start tomorrow where I will take a look 👀 inside the engine. Best wishes from Germany Sher 😉

Great! Any updates on it now? :)

Compression is good, within where she should be. Lots of gaskets, Cam-chain + guides, new Thermostat and irridium-plugs. Usual service filters with fresh oil and runs beautifully. Registered and on the road where she averages 6.5Lit pro 100Km when using 5500rpm max with gentle acceleration (Redline at 11 so that’s half throttle) Next on my list is the handling…

They definitely are indeed! They’re successful with a few French 24hour racing teams (Ninjas) and have a good reputation for being long lasting, which makes them desirable for this type of sport.

@@stanza77 wow, that's a great deal indeed. Well, check out for any defects or so (I'm just trying to justify or find reason, maybe, for the listed price). On the other hand prices do vary from a country to another.

Check your frame around the steering head and the left side area from the head to the mount, did alot of reading today ... Apparently Kawasaki had made 3 variations of the frame from 03 to 05 which is proven by the part #'s on the schematics. 2003 the frames were cracking at the welds and they were replacing the frames for a bit and then they were just having the frames welded over which the owners manual clearly states not to do. In January of 04 they were coming with frames that were braced in those area's and 05 manufactured models were made a little better. I checked this out for myself upon reading this, they never issued a recall for defects and they even went as far as blaming the riders or the mechanics who worked on them, some riders took legal action in light of this. It almost makes me want to tell the guy no thanks and pass on buying his 03 and look for an 06 or a little newer

All good, got mine today, looks like it was already replaced with 04 frame like Kawasaki was doing ... 🤙

Hey, gorgeous machine! Understandably, I know you bought the bike this way. However, is there any way you could find out who customize the akrapovich pipes? Akrapovic doesn’t sell anything with that modern for the z1000. Warm regards, thanks! 😊
@oldschoolgrech3 ай бұрын
Hello, thanks! The down pipes are actually stock (factory standard). So the only change is the cans. The original dual pipes on each side were simply removed and the new Akra cans installed and connected with the same 2-way system (since the original configuration is 4-into-2-into-4). Now they are 4-into-2-into-2 Akra cans.

@@oldschoolgrech oh,oh.... I was just kidding. I have the weirdest sence of humor. I apologize. I had that same EXACT bike when there really wasn't any Japanese nakeds.. To be honest I'm jealous because I miss those days in so many ways. I really don't like the direction that Japanese motorcycle manufacturers have taken. Nobody cares about performance really. They just like electronics, LCD screens and Bluetooth. Not USD FORKS, radial brakes,.... but I've owned alot of motorcycles in my life and early 2000's late 90's was so awesome. That black and red scheme looks so awesome, and that Akrapovic exhaust sounds 👍 great!!! That stock exhaust was so heavy as I remember swapping it out for 2 Brothers. It's so loud that bike is like thunder coming down as most Kawi's do once u ditch the stock setup. I'm sorry Grech,I'm gonna join your Chanel!!!!
@oldschoolgrech Жыл бұрын
@@davidlagno7717 oh, it's okay, you've got a point anyway. Yeah, true, from my perspective some bikes are just too much for the road. Even this, an old 2003 Z1000 has quite a lot of power, and in my case, living on a tiny island in the Mediterranean, the power is way more than enough. Yeah, indeed, I love old school motorcycles as well. As one can see on the channel I have a soft spot for classic & vintage bikes actually. Thank you for joining the channel Dav! 🍻 I am not super active here, it is just a thing I do for fun, but I try to post a video every now and then. 🙂 Take care, ride safe.
