Thanks so much for sharing your experience Lina. I'm in Australia and have just bought Little Gem and Kay Parris so it's been really helpful hearing about your experience.

I’m so glad to hear that Hugh. I hope your new magnolia trees bring you much joy! 🌿 Btw I envy people in Australia right now. I’m itching for this winter to be over so I can start gardening again!

I bought my Kay Parris this year after researching and watching these videos. The roses 🌹 in the garden are great.

Thank you for the updates, I have been enjoying seeing your tree grow. I just planted a few as a privacy screen. Before purchasing, I actually went to an arboretum in my area (SE Pennsylvania), and the Kay Parris magnolia was almost 30' tall! About 12-15' wide. The tree was planted in 2007. It was a beautiful tree.

Oh nice! I’m so excited for you. I absolutely love my Kay Parris. Everything about this tree is enticing to me.

Beautiful 😍. Did you amend the soil before planting at all? I've got quite a few magnolia trees. They are only going like yours. Two little gems, A few Teddy Bears (2 dropped most of their leaves thanks to black spot😥), caviar and White Fairy. The last 2 grow extremely quickly!

Hi! I did amend the soil every time I planted something. I would use about 2-3 spadefuls of compost, and maybe 2-3 more of soil conditioner if it’s heavy clay, and mix them in with existing soil. I haven’t had experience with black spot on my magnolias, but with my roses yes. My magnolias seem to like the environment here in my neighborhood (fingers crossed that this is always the case) Thank you for visiting my garden! Happy gardening 🌱🪻🌿🌷

I just planted two Bracken Brown Beauties but i planted them much too close together so I'll have to dig one up and move it further down. My mistake. They're about 6 feet apart and the one on the left has a tree about ten feet from it as well.

I don’t have Bracken’s Brown so I’m not sure how big it can get. Is it a dwarf variety?
@TheGildayFamily6 ай бұрын
@@Linasgardens Bracken's not dwarf variety, it will grow quite large. I have one in my front yard that is about 15 feet tall and 12 feet wide. I expect it to double in the years to come.

Thank you so much for sharing this information about your magnolia. I live in Seattle and was wondering if you could share the nursery where you bought it.

Hi! Thank you for visiting my garden. When I bought my first two magnolias which were Kay Parris and Susan Magnolia, it was at a local nursery nearby that was almost a pop-up stand and I believe they were open seasonally, or they move around to other locations I’m not too sure. I remember the name was Clover Creek nursery. They were good and healthy young trees. Then I bought two more magnolia trees which were Little Gem and these I got online from.. Lowe’s or Home Depot, it was one of the big box stores. They arrived healthy and turn out great too. I’m not at that house right now (had to move away temporarily for work) but I really hope my trees are doing alright. I miss my garden more than words can say.

Thank you Lina. I’ve checked West Seattle Nursery and they have one. I may go check it out this weekend. Hopefully you will land somewhere where you can further your passion for gardening!

Do you have osmanthus fragrans, Lina? They are easy to grow and have a really nice fragrance. If you like magnolia, I recommend trying a banana shrub (magnolia figo). Some of the improved banana shrub varieties are hardy in Zone 8 and their banana scent is quite addicting.

Hi! I haven’t heard of these shrubs before and I had a lot of fun googling and learning about them from your comment. Thank you ☺️

Hello. Does your Kay Parris flowers turn into a brown colour after the flower blooms a couple of days afterwards? Am curious if your ones do the same thing?
@Linasgardens6 ай бұрын
Yes my flowers do the same thing. They only last 2-3 days if I remember correctly and I think that’s very normal for magnolias 👍
