I'm very lucky to get out of my kayak quickly, before going headfirst down this waterfall.

@@mayrbmx or just a brace would do and also much safer, your head never even went under water. Definitely work on those basic skills before running consequential stuff like this.

@@dereksmith8165 believe me when i say this guy knows how and when to brace. running that waterfall any other way than properly will potential cave your face in. just because this is a very unusual solution to the problem at hand, doesnt mean it wasnt a smart one.

Adrenaline will make you think and do weird things quick , and in this case it worked out just fine for this guy. My worst swim came from attempting to roll with a broken paddle instead of swimming to teddy before a more major drop.

Big balls bro, solo, grade 3 boater on class 5. Get a mate 2 boat with, experience, a brace, a back deck roll, and stay in your boat, next time won't be so lucky.

Looks like the decision to bail was pre-planned should it go badly. Turns out to be a great decision, relatively easy self rescue in shallow water. Beats the hell out of bouncing down a rocky fall on your head. Always plan what you are going to do if it goes wrong, which may include an insta-bail. I've planned such a strategy in the past and sometimes needed to do it.

That would have been a painful, terrifying decent. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a hydraulic jump. Almost fell victim to a low head damn in Muskegon Michigan. Thank God I was rescued after two minutes, though it felt like an eternity.
