Kayla Buell hey! I’m just seeing your video after I I’m trying to figure this cash envelope thing so I can implement it. You mentioned you do your envelopes a month ahead. So when you first started did you put in 150%? Like the whole month amount so you had a cushion in each envelope?

I started doing the envelope system a year ago and bought some cute envelopes. I went on maternity leave in November so my routine changed and I stopped. Hoping to get back to implementing the envelope system again soon because I really loved it. I love your video, very informative. 😊

Thank you for this video! I recently just got into budgeting. I haven't heard Ramsey's radio show, but I read his book Total Money Makeover, but he only briefly mentions the envelope system in it. This video was way more informative and provided me with guidelines to come up with my own envelope system that fits my family. Thank you, Kayla. -Your newest subscriber

Really been waiting on this! 🙌🏻 going to talk to the hubby and see what he thinks about this system - I really want to try this! I think one question I have is what all of your categories are? How do you determine what the budget would be for say.. cleaning supplies or personal hygiene? I’ve found I just purchase them when I run out so sometimes it adds up to be a good chunk of money at once when buying those things. 🤔

I just started a month and a half ago and I'm keeping it simple. Each Bill..... gas/food I get both at walmart.... leftover and savings. It's working well.

Loved, loved, loved this video! We are currently in the process of paying down all debt so there’s no real budget or spending that’s not fixed expenses (aside from groceries of course!). I am really looking forward to trying this system so that maybe we can have a little joy in our lives lol my main question has to do with how you and joe who have different concept and or approaches to money manage to get on the same page with this system- are there some communication tips/cues you guys use? How did you guys manage competing interests (i.e maybe Joe with tech and you with makeup- money wise if one is more expensive does it get more allocated or is it still even steven?) Also, was it tough to decide on your categories?

Excellent video! I would much rather make my envelopes rather than buy them for now. THANKS so much for making this very detailed video. I have never tried using cash to buy my items nor have I ever created a budget. I will DEFINITELY try out the envelope system for at least 2 months to help me to better manage and track my spending's. *UPDATE* I watched a few more videos and finally created a budget

How do you know how much cash you should take out for groceries if you order groceries online ? New to cash envelope and finding it also hard to figure out how much I should withdraw from the bank and how much I need to leave in the bank

I’m curious how the envelopes hold up. I love the idea of having the cute crafty envelopes but if I’m honest with myself I’ll never get around to making them every month. 🤣 Much rather get a big pack from Amazon from $11

Here are all our categories (pretty sure that’s all of them) Spending for me Spending for my husband Personal care for me (things like hair products, face wash, hair cuts, etc.) Personal care for my husband Lunch for me Lunch for my husband Dining out (whenever we’re together) Date night Groceries Our kiddos (money for clothes, toys, or any expenses related to the kids) Travel Healthcare (for copays etc) Automotive (a mini savings account for car washes, new tires, etc) Gas Home Improvement (a savings account for home related expenses - decor, furniture, projects, etc) Movie Rentals

Hi. Yes I have a budget. I do a list. I write down all my bills and make sure I have enough money to pay all of them. Then I put an x-amount in my purse for everyday life such as gas, groceries, etc. I put a certain amount in my savings account and my emergency account. If I need to buy something for the house or my son then less money will go into my savings or emergency account. It works pretty well for me.

I've always liked the idea of having a pre-planned budget but I hate the idea of taking out the cash. I'd never want this much cash sitting around my house doing nothing lol. I really do like the general idea though, I think I'd just do it electronically.

There are some banks that let you move money from checking into a reserve wallet each month (or wallets, if you want to divvy it up into travel/ipad/shoes/loan principle sort of groups), which I've heard works for a lot of people too!
