I grew up in VB and was excited to see this! Virginia Beach makes its money in the summer. It’s actually the most profitable area in the entire state just from it’s summer season. Because of that all the business can survive on the few people during off season since it makes so much money in the summer. It’s one of the most visited/ biggest beaches on the east coast. Since you came on the off season, most of the people you saw were probably locals.

I've lived here since 2009 now and as the other comments say, the tourism is mostly during the summer months. The hotels and some other places are open during the rest of the year but 99% of the shops on the boardwalk and immediate beach area are closed until around April. They open up and start to get busier during spring break. I hope you enjoyed it anyways!

I used to live in Virginia Beach and Virginia for most of my life and you have literally visited every place that I loved as a kid!!! I lived down the road from the Aquarium and it was so cool to see the sea lions as a kid!!

Great that you got to have a little weekend getaway. You 4 are such a cute family! 😘 I was just thinking why we should feel bad, when our kids are not behaving perfectly?! Kids at this age cannot fully control their feelings and they do have their moments. No judgments from outsiders are welcome in those difficult situations.

I'm with you there on the not sleeping. my 13 month old is up every hour or so for the passed 2 weeks so I'm literally the living dead atm 😩 That looked like a wonderful family trip. I can't wait to do something similar when things start opening back up here in the UK🇬🇧 xx

Have you heard of the slumber pod? It’s a black out tent that goes over the pack n play. I swear it is a game changer for sleep away from home! Love VA beach, I went to college in Norfolk so we always hung out there!

I bought the same pack n play for my 17 month old girl lol! Sadly she never sleeps In it but if I get luckily and isn’t upset, she can entertain herself In it with her toys! Aquarium looks fun! I need to take my kids to one!

My daughters sleep was like Jackson’s when she began teething. I think you just need to be patient. My daughter is two and still teething some days she sleeps through the night others she wakes up.

Hello Kayla, i have a 1 year old son and i Work in a Kindergarten in Germany. if some kids are about to learn how to Walk free and stand by themself they are exactly like Jackson just now. They cry very often during the day and the sleep can be terrible as well. But as soon as this milestone is done it will all go back to normal by itself. Sorry for my Englisch. Love your Videos and your sweet Family.

I used to play restaurant with my kids - sometimes they were the waiters and they served me block soup or whatever and sometimes I was the waiter and I would make up little menus so they could order their actual lunch from me. I bet Riley would love to be the waitress!

Riley is so cute with the waitress lol, we were suppose to go to North Carolina next week but had to cancel due to the tornado watch and it looks like it will be raining a lot. What hotel did you stay in? We need a kitchen as we are traveling with our toddler. By the way you have encouraged me to go and eat out again, I miss dining out so much. In commenting to Riley’s eating habits. Dr Phil last week told parents, if you don’t continue to yield to her habits, take it away and she will eventually eat what you give her. I totally agree.

Looks like a pretty fun trip! Sorry you guys didn’t sleep much though. I’m guessing Jackson is either going through a sleep regression or he might just be more aware of his surroundings now that he is a little older, so when he wakes up in the middle of the night he knows he’s not at home. Either way I hope he slept better for you once you got home.

I forgot to mention the activities for the kids. At Uncle Scottie's Heavenly Acres, we love the kids. We provide activities and games like: Shut the HELL up, Be quiet, and a oldie but goodie Because I said so. The kids at Heavenly Acres are well manned because corporal punishment is free, free, FREE. So, come visit Heavenly Acres. We got cha.

How do you cope with the possibility of the kids crying in public? I realize I don't go many places now (library, Target, etc) with my 14 month old because I'm afraid of the judgment of him crying.

Not Kayla, but I just wanted to remind you mama that kids will cry and everybody should know that.. that's what kids do. If it's at a restaurant, please don't feel shamed to not bring out a tablet or a simple activity for him to do. If you're walking around somewhere, try to distract him by making him look at everything around him. Possibly give him snacks too if you can. Do your best, and don't worry too much about everyone else! That's your baby boy and you are showing/teaching him about the world. Have all the fun and enjoy every minute of it. 💞

@@anniegoodwin2412 thank you so much! I took my son to the library yesterday because I realize how much my anxiety was stopping me from being the Mom that I want to be to him. Like you said, babies cry. A friend of mine reminded me to that he's seeing things for the first time, and I don't want to stifle his growth and his experiences all because of my anxiety. I'm not going to be afraid to take up space in this world. Thank you for the tips and suggestions, and taking the time out to respond to help me and my son. I'll always keep puffs on hand :)

Sorry but you are giving your children very bad eating habits! If you let them constantly watch screens while eating and only give them junk food how do you expect they learn to eat new/healthy food! If Riley likes crunchy food she should try carrots? Hummus?!

Don't you think she's tried that?? Obviously, you haven't watched all her other videos because she has touched base on this NUMEROUS times, hun. You can't force a THREE year old to eat something they don't like. Would you like that done to you? She tries, but at the end of the day, fed is best. I would love for you to come tell this to my 3 year old son so I can watch him laugh in your face. I'm assuming you're one of those who gives serious back lash if a kid doesn't eat how YOU want them to eat? Or maybe that makes them sit at the table until ALL their food is gone? Also, did you not see in the beginning where Riley didn't want her tablet? Please remember, as a parent, we are doing our best and sometimes that means being considerate of those around us with our children. Because we all know how they can get, or at least I thought we did. My suggestion is to try getting familiar with her content before commenting, because this is one of her biggest stressors with Riley.

@@anniegoodwin2412 give a kid a choice between a cookie and broccoli, of course they would choose the cookie, if you let them pick their own meals of course they’re going to end up eating crackers, donuts, cookies and junk all day. That’s all I meant. We never forced my daughter to eat her veggies but if she cleans her plate she gets a treat after, she knows if she doesn’t finish, she won’t get the treat (dessert). That’s worked really well for her and she will happily eat broccoli. We also sit around the table together to eat at least once a day. Don’t mean to be rude and I know we’re all trying our best as parents but I just don’t think these food practices with young kids (parking them in front of screens and making them eat alone) are anything to write home about!

@@discopumps no I understood what you meant. I just don't understand what you think the solution would be? I've tried to force my kid to eat a food numerous ways and even spoon shoving it in his mouth and he threw up. In the end, there was no effective way to do it. He just didn't like the food choice. He's extremely picky, just like Riley. That's why we are big advocates on vitamins and pediasures
