Kazatomprom Corporate Update - Where is Uranium Price Going

Askar Batyrbayev, CCO of Kazatomprom, will provide a corporate update on its operations as well as how Kazatomprom is being impacted by the current geo-political environment in Eastern Europe, as well as JV agreements with Russian partner, Uranium One, the potential impact of secondary sanctions on Kazatomprom, and the Russian Ruble impact on financials.
Kazatomprom will release 2021 Full-Year Results on Wednesday, March the 16th, 2022 at 17:00 Nur-Sultan / 11:00 GMT / 07:00 ET.

Thoroughly enjoyed Askar's transparent and honest thoughts on what is a very challenging time in his part of the world. We take so much for granted i.e. the movement of scare materials like uranium until we have a catastrophic event like war. I never thought the movement of uranium would require so much precision as what was explained.

This is not my first time seeing Askar Batyrbayev and appreciate his commentary. It is important to get the facts on the table, unfortunate that the timing was just before their reporting next week so no doubt he could not make certain statements as Jimmy in some cases was referring to 2020 Annual Report.

Very good interview thanks covering all the relevent current issues. One of my largest Ur individual holdings is KAP, so not at all happy with the recent price collapse.....

I suspect the ETFs are going to rebalance as a result of the potential impacts on KAZ. There’s just no way they can keep their holdings in KAZ at such a high percentage.

Kazatomprom will be fine. Kazakhstan will be fine. You won't be penalized because of the war. The most important takeaway from the SPIEF was the appearance of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. While on stage together with Mr. Putin, he proclaimed that he had no intention of recognizing any Russia-sponsored “quasi-state formations” in Ukraine. He also took a shot at Russian Duma members who had questioned Kazakhstan’s independence. Putin appeared furious, responding with an insult combined with a chilling threat. Pretending to forget the name of the Kazakh leader, he claimed that all former USSR territories belong to Russia by right: “What is the Soviet Union? This is historic Russia. … You are part of historic Russia.”

Let’s remember two things. Kazakhstan is a dictatorship and that dictatorship owns 75% of Kazatomprom. The “difficulties” in January saw a Russian dictator help a Kazakh dictator crush a protest movement. Kazatomprom is just another vehicle to enrich the dictators and their oligarch buddies by slapping a veneer of respectability on it and running it through the London stock exchange. This interview is nothing shy of state sponsored propaganda. Forget secondary sanctions, Kazatomprom should and more than like will be hit with primary sanctions as Kazakhstan is nothing but a vassal state extension of Russia.
