"Run with the Wind" or "Kaze ga Tsuyoku" was an anime that took a different approach to traditional sports anime. It didn't bring the usual idea of a team coming together and working hard to win a championship or a trophy. But rather it was more about the journey to the competition which was the Hakone Ekiden. It was not a battle between other schools but rather, each member of Kansie Univeristy track team was in a battle with himself solve a personal problem of some sort. It happened that the running in which they were forced into by Haiji Kiyose was ,a form of escape from their actual realities for although they were all living together under the same roof and seemed close, running together brought them all closer in a sense. I can bore you all and continue writing in details about this anime but i need you need to watch it to better understand. One thing that really intrigued me was how Haiji Kiyose a protagonist in this anime kept on searching throughout the anime for the meaning of what it was to truly RUN, which this question will also stun Kakeru Kurahara a prodigy in long distance running who assumes running meant to finish the race first even tho all his life of finishing first kept him at a distance and built a wall between him and his peers. This anime is a full of thrills, emotions and subtle moments of nostalgia making you feel like you went through the whole journey with them even tho your just an audience member. I was happy about the way it also covered the issue of segregation of international students who go abroad to study, most of them under sports scholarships and how some residents feel robbed by those athletes for the tremendous distance between them in terms of raw talent. The anime didn't really lean to much into it but was able to tackle the issue in some segments. it was really something that opened my eyes to different views of people go life. I hope you find time to watch this anime because I know it'll leave you in tears as it did to me. If you do watch this anime, I bet you 5 bucks you be shouting the name Haiji at the end while your in tears.

It's been almost a year since I watched this series. Now, I'm feeling lost again and seeing this just reminded me the emotions I've felt during that time. Fuck... I feel so lucky being able to see this at the perfect time of my life. I'm not exaggerating when I say this series changed me cause it really did

Haiji Kiyose is on the top of my favorite characters. After injuring he didn't give up his dreams and persuaded in hilarious way others to take part in Hakone Marathon. I love everything about his character. His pleased face after finishing Marathon made me burst into tears. I wish I could be that kind person who never gives up on the path of dreams 😌 P.s. sorry for my bad English

Forever one of my absolute favorite anime. Being a runner myself I am fully aware how unrealistic it is for mere beginners to reach such a level in this short amount of time (most people will never in their whole lives, even if they try), but it doesn't bother me at all. Because that's not what Run with the wind is about. It teaches so many life lessons through running and I strongly believe that the running part should actually more be seen as a metaphor for life itself. I don't think I'll ever get tired of rewatching this masterpiece of an anime. Or this beautiful AMV. I have been here many times before and just felt like coming back when I randomly listened to I Lived. Thanks to you this song will forever be connected to Run with the wind in my mind

this anime really gives me so much feels. i admit that haikyuu is my most fav one, but kazetsuyo is the one that really close to my heart. i could relate so much and ive got to learn so much about my fav sport. ive started running during my first year in college just because i join the military reserved unit in my college. and im just so grateful that it makes me love running so much without i would have ever imagined.

I love this team! Nico-chan senpai - He's relatable somehow, and I like the reason why he run, he feels clean. How poetic. Yuki-san - A genius and calculated guy, at a glance he looks like to have a solid and stubborn personality but we know that he's the most caring on this team. King-san - Ahhh yes as a college student, the most relatable I can say, especially in finding a job, I'm also trying or I didn't? Prince- He's a prince for a reason. You can't win on argument with him, a philosophical person. And a weeb. Joji & Jota - I love this twin, their energy, their hype, their design. The most enjoyable to watch character on this anime. A comedic duo indeed. Musa - Such a cute guy, Musa is also caring and romantic in his ways. He admires and respect each other's thought. A top student like Shindo. Also he looks like Aran lmao. Shindo - This guy radiates the most clear and vibrant green flag, such a great guy in Overall aspects. Kakeru - We love his character development through the series. And why he is running? What's his reason in running? The answer is the next and last man... Haiji-san - The great guy! Great captain!! I would devite my whole life to him tbh. A whole package that anyone wants to be. Excellent in all aspects, a good speaker and what I admire tye most in him is that, he's always chooses the best words to say something. Yeah he's selfish on making the other to run, but I think that helps other too boost their self confidence as well as to be a better person. Haiji, The BEST BOY!!!!!

I haven't seen that many sports anime but this one is definitely one of my favourites. As someone said in a much longer comment, this show differs from your average sports anime in that it isn't a competition against other people, it's a competition against yourself. You're fighting against your weaknesses, the things that hold you back, in order to become a stronger person and be the best you you can be. The framing and handling of this show is excellent and, quite frankly, it saddens me that it got forgotten about seemingly quickly; a fate that occurs to most anime due to their seasonal nature. Even though it's now been two years since I watched this I haven't forgotten about it. It has one of my favourite ending themes in anime (the first one). And speaking of music, the soundtrack is excellent; I've listened to it a number of times on Spotify. I really hope more anime like this one continues to be created because even if, arguably, it makes this one less unique and less special, I want to see more of this sort of thing made so that as many people can experience it as possible. And you never know, that may make people come back to this one. I realise I've said a fair bit here but I just wanted to thank anyone for reading my thoughts and feelings on this and hope anyone who is here and hasn't watched it yet will continue to do so. I've seen well over 200 anime and don't easily place them in my top 30, but this one is definitely in there. This anime is of a quality that is a rarety, a must watch. I hope you all enjoy/enjoyed it. :)

I finally watched it, this anime is definitely my top five, but it’s now my number one sports anime. And I’ve seen a LOT of sport anime as well as played sports my whole life. My favorite thing you see in sports anime is the emotional and mental aspects of it, and Run with the Winds execution is beautiful. I love the whole cast, especially Haiji, not only is he beautiful but he is such a well written character. I find him very relatable, dealt with a similar situation and it’s pretty inspiring to watch. The animation is so gorgeous and the humor is pretty great which is always a plus. It’s a real gem and im surprised it’s so underrated. I’m forcing all my friends to watch it.

What a masterpiece, the only anime I ever rewatched🤩💯💯

this anime had a slower start and I didnt think i was going to like it but i came around to keep watching it and it was the best decision of my life, i was able to experience all of them evolving into a work of art and the most inspiring thing was how they had all despised running in the beginning but ended up finding their true love towards it. The AMV had me in tears as you can see all of the show summed up into a single song, the other AMV that caught my eye was to the song "run boy run" which also had me in tears....I just want more of this anime but not episodes that would ruin its legacy!!!! Thank you so much for putting your time and efforts into making this

Just finished watching this anime an hour ago and I just love it so much! Ive been seeing this on Netflix for months now til I decided to finally watch it last night. And boy it blew me away! I would suggest everyone to try marathon at least once in the lifetime. Not being much of an athlete, i tried half-marathon once. It was the best feeling ever after the finish line. but the journey was a battle with myself. This anime did not go for usual sports anime vibe, this anime brought out exactly that feeling of running. I loved this every bit.
