Hell yeah Kaneko's the one who influences my art the most. BTW at some point in the 90s he started rendering in Photoshop so that's why there's a drastic change in rendering. Also soejima was the one who originally told him to use the airbrush when Altus moved to digital because they could only paint with a mouse back then, it was easier to use the airbrush than the hard brush

The legend himself? The boy Kazuma Kaneko? Mother of god, why was this not recommended sooner!

Kaneko is the goat man, I kinda hate when they take a demon and make it a normal person or an anime girl, so I love Kaneko's work where even the ones who are humanoid or a person, have always an element (pose, clothes, expression, etc) of supernatural horror.

Awesome video! I've always loved Kaneko's characters, I love the uncanny feeling and creepiness of them, somehow remind me of the manga artist Suehiro Maruo. I miss that dark feeling on the more recent persona games. An holy crap, I didn't knew he had designed Lloyd and Inhert on ZOE2!!! I freaking love those designs, I just thought Yoji Shinkawa was in drugs when they made them xd

Any day where Kazuma Kaneko's art is discussed is a great day! I bought the Japanese compendium book for Persona 1 and 2 dualogy just to look at his character designs

Should be noted that Beelzebub has those 2 different designs because they are different demons based on similar mythology.

Hey Namukir. I want to say this was an amazing video. I've been getting into your channel recently (even subscribed about 3 days ago), and I absolutely love the stuff you make. Even though as of now, the only ones I've seen are your Artist Analyses; yet those video are incredible! Excellent on detailing the traits of your favourite artist and make them tick in the first place. Especially with Kaneko-san over here. You have a strong passion for art, and it's something I like a lot! I heard you take requests from comments of what artists to analysis, and I think it would be cool if I could give my own. I could go on a massive list of cool people, but I don't want be greedy nor overwhelm you, so here's an appropriate amount: Mike Mignola (pronounced "min-yo-la", if you were curious) Wendy Pini Carl Barks Gris Grimly Osamu Tezuka Tim Sale Yô Yoshinari James Jean Richard Elson Naoto Ohshima Kōhei Horikoshi Tove Jansson I hope you find these requests interesting, and I hope you enjoyed reading this comment. Carrying on making art; because the world is better when you do.

Bruv you're an OG fan of Z.O.E. You deserve a massive HIGH FIVE man *High five up* I still have this series on my old PS2 I know the 2nd game gets so much love but... I love ZOE 2 so much it's a timeless classic of fast paced robot action, this is coming from a fella like me who's not into mecha anime but holy hot damn I love this game so much. Streamed the ps2 version on discord (not the awful PC steam version oof) my discord community didn't know what the game is but they love it when they saw it, they wish more games of today were more unique n crazy cool single player games.

Remember ZOE? Man I'm finishing my first ever playthrough of ZOE2 atm. I'm playing on hard right of the bat and didn't expect the game to be as difficult as it is. It's gotta have some of the most unique gameplay I've played in years. I struggled a ton at first but the more I played the more it felt like learning a new instrument. And the designs are S tier

Could you analyze Norihiro Yagi's work? He's severly underrated in the shonen/seinen genre and his style also had development.

I remember there’s a twitter thread where they translated one interview he did around the mid 2000s I believe, unfortunately that thread is deleted by the owner of the account, and it used the art piece from magazine as an example and a different process, The only thing I could remember it started off with line art. You could bring up his character designs from devil summoner soul hackers (sega Saturn) which is a transition point to the art of persona 1 to persona 2 drastic art style EDIT: I like to mention the box art of all of megaten games in the snes era was made by a separate artist he talked about it more on his twitter

Had no idea he did Zone of the Enders when designs for that game were mostly Yoji Shinkawa

One other thing Kaneko did was also some mechs from Super Robot Wars Alpha 3. And yes, they are some of the coolest in the game. Also, for the upper lip, that was actually common back in the old days of anime. It was sort of phased out as anime moved into the 2000's and moved onto digital animation. Kaneko instead took and refined the look. And for me, I just feel Doi can't hold a candle to Kaneko. A lot of his designs just feel messy with trying to look more generically cool. And oftentimes he tends to take some kind of pop-culture reference and have it be overbearing to the whole design with some mythological elements slapped on top later. Contrast that with Kaneko who showed a lot more restraint. Hell, his reference pool is fairly shallow when compared to Kaneko, being mostly limited to Toku and anime whereas Kaneko took from the whole world. But it is so sad to see Atlus treat one of their seminal names almost with spite. I mean, when you compare with other franchises you can feel the reverence they have for their founding fathers and the work they created. Atlus meanwhile almost seems intent on going against everything Kaneko stood for and seem to only acknowledge him when they have to.

Honestly him not being into anime as probably would makes his art So interesting. Because turns out a lot of japanese media that we love with heavily inspired by western culture. Therefore you get the best of bolt with the worlds Instead of anime rot
