Skip's guest Scotty Bowers has quite the ageless voice for an 89 year old! He could have easily transitioned into voiceover even at that age. Great interview and crisp audio!

This is such a great piece of social history captured on film. Skip and Scotty come at the interview process from different places. Both are savvy and witty, open and still a little wide eyed. Scotty bringing up Matt T. all the time is hilarious especially when Skip gets to and past the point of exasperation. You got to celebrate these 2 seniors with all their faculties giving many gems. Priceless.

Another inspiration was a Canadian movie critic named Brian Linehan. Everytime Glick puts an "a" in front of someone's name, as in "a Dierdre Hall", or "a Ricky Gervais", that's reminiscent of him :)

This was filmed in 2011. Skip E. Lowe was just a year younger than Bowers. Bowers comes off really honest. When he was talking About Scott and sexuality. It was a different time back then. Gore Vidal was a brilliant man and didn't suffer fools. I don't think he would show up on Skip's show. lol

This is one of Skippy's best interviews! Reminds me of when I used to see him at The Numbers on Sunset and Crescent Heights in the 70's. He was a gay icon for sure. These two guys were certainly old Hollywood which will never exist again. I wish I could have been part of that secret underground. It must have been wonderful, scary at times but oh so exciting! Giminy Glick was spot on skip e lowe. It's obvious to anyone with a brain and two eyes. I always resented Short for doing that and also how dismissive he was to that great Hollywood icon Bette Davis on The Tonight Show. I often saw Short in Michael's Restaurant in Santa Monica and could see immediately the man had no class. C list all the way! By the way I once saw Brian Dennehy in the Numbers when he was doing research for the Gacy movie. Real overkill and I'm sure he didn't learn much as most hustlers and johns were actually just normal nice people.

@@bobswabbo440 That explains it. I've always wondered where that accent came from. Johnny Carson had the same kind of midwestern draw. I associate it with Hollywood, but just a lot from the Midwest that moved to Hollywood in the 1950s and 60s.

Like everyone else I knew immediately this was the inspiration behind Martin` Shorts character Jimminy Glick what’s annoying is once I heard him describe how he came up with the character and the fact that he left out this man is what I HATE. That was one of Martin funniest characters and he didn’t even create him and tried to pretend it was his own genius...it wasn’t. A mess another thief that doesn’t credit where he STEALS his characters from. He legit went through a whole process, he took the time to create a lie and as annoying as Skip can be that’s part of his charm and I had to randomly find him and see right off this the real Jimminy etc.

Skippy, the old witch is dead. Horrible interviewer, constantly interrupts, or worse tells his guest he doesn't believe their own take on episodes of their own life. Geez! Thankfully, Scotty is still with us. He was brave and honest enough to get it all down on paper before leaving, and before another denial of facts that some cannot accept. He's one of the last that can tell these stories, if not THE last. I value my copy, and have re-read it several times. It's popular at the library too. They had to have two copies, they circulated so fast. He should have gotten a Pulitzer Prize for literature. We'll probably never see a book like his again. I'm sure he could write volume 2.
