I went to Sigiriya in 2019 on a school trip. Watching this makes me so happy ❤🇱🇰

It's so grate that you took part in promoting our tourism industry anyway sigiriya is not just a rock it's a palace used by king kashyapa and there are wall paintings of ladies related to that era also there is a place where ancient visitors wrote poems after going up.But the history runs even before that this place was built by the father of Princess mandodari who was the childhood friend and wife of RAWAN. This is the castle of srilankas most strong king RAWAN. There is a water line system which is still a mystery of its great technology and also you seem to wonder how they climbed this castle back in the day actually there is a lift in it.They used lifts to go up.I am very thankful that you made a visit and let everyone know about our proud history of 4000years.

Fun fact : The sigiriya name came from the word sinha+giri which stands for lions rock. It was built in in around 5 AD

For anyone visiting Sigiriya, do heed the warnings and rules on the various signboards, especially: - Keep quiet as you climb as there are wasp nests scattered about on the walls. If there is a wasp attack, head back down towards a shelter and try not to make much noise - Do not sit on the walls (not sure if the photo-op was allowed 😅 but the shots look great ) - Photography of the frescoes is prohibited

Sigiriya was a fort of king kaashyapa and we believe in ancient times there were secrets passages and a lift that ppl used to get to the top easily that are hidden now

It’s easy to climb the rock just go early to avoid the heat! I went at 5 LOL made it to the top within 30 minutes!
