I honestly believe the son is suffering from a depressive disorder . Drinking and smoking- addictive behaviours , are all associated with depressive disorder and he is displaying many signs of it. Saying he cant quit, but no admitting his is addicted is also typical addict behaviour. He needs to speak to some professional therapists. Mental health in young people( males especially) isn't paid enough attention to in korea

@@mygradeflife2754 this could be true because if his parents divorced when he was 8 he might've blamed himself or just got too caught up in the mess. as a child of divorced parents i am also struggling with depressive disorder besides some other things like anxiety and ptsd so i do understand what he went through and it is possible for him to be struggling with some mental illness. i also do understand him when it comes to alcohol and smoking(weed) because i also did use that to make myself feel better but hence my mom is an alchoholic and my dad is a drug addict i saw what it did to them, their marriage and in the longer term me and my sister. i do think he is addicted but as long as he doesnt want to admit he has a problem theres absolutely no way he's getting better any time soon. i really wish he realises it and gets proper help because if he doesnt i am really worried about his future.

The shaky hands might be due to anxiety. A close friend of mine has the exact same thing, hand tremors. She was diagnosed for it being some sort of anxiety thing. Maybe that's what he has considering that he said he had it before he started drinking.

My dad caught me smoking when i was 17 too, he didnt say anything, no scolding no slapping. Later that night i found him secretly wipe his tears as he look at my mom photo (my mom and dad divorced when i was on elementary school). Then i promise to myself i wont cause any trouble again. That was an emotional episode for me so I just want the boy on this concern to be more considerate, being a single dad isnt easy, raising kids without a mom to share every problem is so stressing

*I started crying so much for the son as fast as I saw him. The look is in his eyes was not telling me that he is enjoying his life while drinking and smoking unlike others teenagers in his older that thinks it fun. I don't get it how many people here are hating on him. His eyes was telling me that it's hard for him too, he is tired and the only thing he can do is drink and smoke and that many things is boiled inside him. He is not a trash like everyone is saying, no he seems like a sad boy and that breaks my heart into hundred pieces. Everyone looked from the father's perspective but no on tried look at the sons as much. Even though I cried for the dad too because the look in his eyes was similar to his sons. Both of them are tired.*

Omg! Thank you! I thought the same. He clearly has attachment issues bc of the divorce and is showing avoidant and self destructive behaviors. That boy just needs a lot of love and support and a good psychologist to help him out figure out what's on his mind. I cried when I saw this video, bc I've been through similar issues and I still live with anxiety to this day bc of my childhood traumas. I too lived like nothing was wrong until I was 15 and then I started to understand that my childhood was just wrong. I had similar coping mechanisms, but thankfully, I was able to go through life and solve my issues on my own with the help of a therapist a few years later, but just like my therapist said, I am not the norm. So I can only imagine what this poor boy is going through. I was able to sustain all of this and become a healthy adult, but the majority of these kids usually continue showing the self destructive behaviors in their adult life. Btw, the fact that the father is permissive is not a good thing. Permissive parenthood is not healthy and does not create secure attachment. Besides, he's only permissive because he wants to ignore the fact that he has not been able to give the support the child needs. Look, I can understand that being a single parent is hard, but it's not the child's responsibility to understand that. Single parenthood is problematic. Most children from single parent households develop psychological problems that usually stem from a lack of secure attachment. Sure it may be hard for the father, but it's not the child's fault. The child has not asked to be born into a single parent household. We're talking about a minor here. Not an adult. Children need love and support. And most of the time, a single parent's best effort is NOT enough. It's the hard truth. If he's not able to solve the issue on his own, it's the father's responsibility to look for professional help. The child has to understand nothing. The child doesn't have to act like an adult. And I'm here to tell everyone that acting like an adult when you are a kid, reverse roles will leave scars for the rest of your life, bc I have been through it. So don't ask the child to "be the bigger person" or "be more understanding". The child is already blaming himself enough! These comments are the worse and really triggered me. Sorry if I sound too harsh.

In my opinion, mostly in asia or asian people especially when youre a male, people are not strick on you. They do not judge you heavily as female. Male critics tends to be push asibe because of their "good" quality. . . . With this issue, it's very minimal, and we think we have a much tougher situations than this. We also see this at any generation...we see this as rebelion or the person has nothing else to do because the parents are too good to them. Personally, i don't really see this as a big problem, just a bit since it is affecting his studies. Btw, most asian men tend to get into either smoking or drinking at any age they want to start then it's very hard to take it from them.

Where I'm from this is totally normal. We are allowed to drink in public at age 18 and usually on Saterdays we drink a bit of wine with our families (religion). I know alot of the girls in my age smoke, drinking isn't weird to do though it depense where since we aren't allowed in public or to drink in the streets in general (unlike Korea). The son has to understand why what he's doing is wrong since it effecting his studies. [sorry if my english isn't the best]

Maisie Zoer He definetely needs to get help ! I don’t think it is a solution to leave the house, it would only lead to another problem, and he needs his dad, and sister to reconnect, and build a healthy stable family !!!! He needs love, and care so he could heal ! My heart breaks when i see teens/yound adults, they are all so important, even if they fall sort , and the father needs to be more persistent, and take a break from work to have the time for conversation with his son face to face, so he could open up, and not being in this crazy cycle of thinking that his father will hurt him! The other important help should be from his mother , even if they don’t spoke in years. They should speak to him to him honestly , not how to fix the problem or what not to do, instead first the conciquences about his behavior, and his life will not go instantly from bad to good, if he don’t choose/want to have , he needs to see his worth, and change school if needed, for a new start, and start to go therapy, church, rehab and found real friends who have a good influence on him, keep him away from trouble! He have to value his life , and make long term decisions for his future. He needs a healthy enviorment for his mental, phyical health socially I think that’s why he needs a new institute ,community of people like a group of teenagers with the same problem like therapy group . I really want to see his face full of life! 🙌🏻😥❤️

the point is that son only received material things from his dad. He is addicted because he wasn't raised properly and being addicted always comes from deep emotional problems. Don't think he isn't ashamed ,but it's not how it works , addiction is sickness and it's hard to stop. He is lonely you can see that clearly. And his father slapping him was a trauma to him. No matter what if you already feel bad about yourself , every action or word can hurt much more. I don't like the attitude of the hosts here, the boy needs psychological support and it's not his fault he is not emotionaly well, the circumstances did this to him.

If the father doesn’t buy him alcohol, he will steal and illegally drink/smoke with his friends. He was caught continuously SO MANY TIMES, that’s why the father told him to drink and smoke at home hence there’s no way to speak senses into him... What else could you do in that situation ? Watching your son sitting in jail? He probably know that it’s not right to do so but he has no choice. Idk it was a difficult decision.. imo personally. If he would stop when the father doesn’t buy him those stuff then that’s a different case.

Was I the only one who thought the boy looked high? He needs to treat his father well and be nicer to his sister. He also needs to understand that single parenthood is difficult and rather than adding to the difficulty, he needs to be mature and be a role model to his sister. When I watch episodes with kids like this, I would wish they had African parents. The only reason you get traumatized by a slap is if you hear a ringing sound in your ear, five finger marks on your face, teary eye, signs of fainting and a headache. Other than that, your dad was just exercising his hands. Happy the MCs didn't fall for his excuses. How do you even feel traumatized over a slap but so comfortable to ask your dad to buy you alcohol and cigarettes? The latter is when you should be more scared but that is not the case. The father needs to cut his sons credit card or put a 100 dollar limit on it. I don't see why an ungrateful child should be spending 2000-3000 dollars per month. If he needs extra expenses then he should work for it. Hopefully, he gets treatment for his trembling hands and his addiction.

I understand the frustration but at the end of the day, this kid is addicted to alcohol. It affects his ability to think rationally as well as shifts his mood and personality. Honestly his friends might be in similar situations. Just as messed up as his situation is, theirs might be too, maybe even worse. That's not something one person starts but more likely a result of many stupid ideas together that got offhand and noone can control them anymore. So I think the question is not how everything started but how can this be stopped? The son really looks like a drug addict (not saying he's taking illegal things but honestly if you're as addicted to alcohol and cigarettes as he is, then you're a drug addict) and he should get professional help asap. He even himself said he doesn't think he's able to quit.

His parents divorced when he was 8, the mom low key left him and he wants me to believe that he is not smoking and drinking because of that. Bullshit. He is addicted already and people only get addicted if they are using drugs as excuse to escape something. Someone can drink one beer and not get addicted , someone can smoke a cigarette and not get addicted but if you are depressed and traumatized and feeling sad, you just want to forget the pain and feel better so ofc the son is relying on drugs to easy the pain. I hope the father takes him to a therapist.

I kind of understand this guy to an extent. My father hit me. But the thing is it wasn’t a slap. He came after me like a man. He grabbed me by my shirt lifted me up head butted me 3 times dropped me I got back up he started pushing me backwards I got my foot caught under a stone table and severely sprained my ankle fractured my foot. Continued to do this until I stayed down in the ground. My mother on the other hand hit me with brushes combs cord phones belts. I get putting your trust in someone that hurts you you will never forget it. It took me a long time to be okay with it too. People have different personalities but if he’s that mad and unforgiving about it he should just move out. But he’s just manipulating his father guilt. He needs a job and buy his own stuff. I had a job when I was 15. He’s need a job and to move out and probably counseling by a real doctor/therapist.

As soon as the song father played at the end I burst into tears, I want to give the boy a hug, because he seems so out of it, it seems emotionally, not just from the drinking and smoking, I feel like he just needs someone to tell him what he's done wrong, but let him know it will be all right, he needs attention from his father, and he needs to be together with his family. The father needs to know that he has to set boundaries, once a child is shown they have no reprocussions for their actions, they think they can do it again, and they loose respect for the adult. I want to give them both hugs, and tell them how to fix this.

people truly are quick to judge. sure we got some stories from them but this is only a 30 minute video and insight into their lives. we don’t know them. we don’t know the whole picture so i don’t understand how people can make all these assumptions. everyone is quick to hating the son but you don’t know how he’s truly feeling. i think there’s something bigger here. he looks awfully tired and i think there could be depression here. it seems like he’s using alcohol as a way out but again, i’m not going to make assumptions. as for the dad, i can tell how hard it is for him and i think he’s letting his son away with too much and the fact that they don’t talk to each other about things is even worse. i hope they can open up about things and have a better life together because this is the only one they have together.

But I can’t get mad at this dude because I feel like I’m almost him in a way. My mom also left and through that, I also find myself taking out my anger on my sister (never my dad-I respect him so so much) and crying myself to sleep since I bottle up all my feelings. I wish there was a way for me to let it all out but I’d never go as far as to drink or smoke. I could tell he loves his sweet dad and is just trying to be cool about it all. This episode makes me really appreciate my dad even more.
