Karr's warm-up shows why they have a good sound. Bands really need to get back to doing proper warming up, it develops tonality and helps with balance and blending.

St. Augustine High School undoubtedly won! Their sound and overall intonation were truly impressive, leaving no doubt as to who deserved the victory. Despite the challenging runs, they played with unparalleled clarity, conviction, and integrity. It's no secret that New Orleans has the absolute best bands!

I agree with you that NOLA has the best HS bands but KARR won this battle frfr. St. Aug finally got it back together and everybody on here wanna act like they the best band all of sudden. 🤣

Aug gives power, he says Karr was cleaner and more balanced. Aug gives clean and balanced, he says they didn’t give the same energy. It is what it is…..hope yall enjoyed what’s probably the best battle of the season.

If we are talking PoWER, KARR is the clear winner. If we're talking about execution and balance, both programs had their moments.. The most consistent sound in this battle goes to KARR.

@@KBThaBandhead I'm going to have to disagree with you I know we entitled to our opinions but half the city in New Orleans said St.Aug won I will challenge you to check out another video Smashtime video is directly centered where both schools on smack dab in the middle unlike the video you posted where he's on an angle directly across from trumpets of Karr school and that's not saying that was done deliberate but the sound comes off different in this video and comparison to other videos the truth is most people gave the win to St. Aug and that's here locally who were there at the time who are on live feeds and in the old school bandhead page of new orleans these were people who didn't attend either school that was just giving the honest opinion based on what they heard from being out there both schools have great programs but there's only one legendary School and that's Saint Augustine High School Grammy award-winning marching band three National parade marching band.

St. Aug has been known throughout their history for having very long songs that run 2-4+ mins. Lol St. Aug has been down after the storm, but they have one of the longest runs of being consistently a top 1-3 band in the state and having college level field shows. So even though they have been down since Mr. Hamp passed they still have that pride and confidence like they are #1.

This is one of the only sites that said Karr won. There is inherently a bias in every review but St Aug winning is almost universal. My 2 cents, Karr was louder but St Aug was better. I feel the same way about Southern. If they concentrated on the sound as much as they concentrate on loudness and octaves, their sound would be elevated imo

One thing no one talks about is that St. Aug is ALL Boys and the other Bands like Karr has girls in them. The physicality of playing has to be accounted for in longer battles. St. Aug is still rebuilding from Katrina so and has some restrictions since they are a Private Catholic School.
