@@PRARTS. Amapiano part of Afrobeats 🤨? Amapiano is House music with Kwaito baselines, with some jazz influences here and there. Don't cause confusion. Not every genre in Africa is Afrobeats or influenced by it. Urban African music does not start and end with Afrobeats. Bongo Flava, Gengetone, Hiplife, Kwaito, Gqom, etc are all our genres and they don't revolve around since it's the most popping right now. These are the types of unresearched takes that cause a lot of fighting. We've seen Ghana and Naija fight over Afrobeats instead of simply crediting the influences Afrobeats has picked up from many African genre's and regions over the years. BTW. This track slaps. As a person who is AA I think the thing that resonates with me regarding the African continent's culture is when it comes to music there are sounds that really hit deep in bones. This song is one such song. At first I wasn't sure what to think of this song but after listening to it more and more I can really feel it's strengths in the way I listen to music from home and across the globe. My dad played a different version of it called EKPERE, for those of you guys who are Ignosit I know you understand…naija for life…wish we get good government, Nigeria will be a place for everyone in this world to visit. First it was Ogene infusion and now Oja. The Igbos are in the forefront in preserving African culture and market it to the world. The world has found an alternative to rap,reggae and rock and they are loving it.

Growing up as a child who witnessed the burial ceremony of my grandfather I’ve always known the Oja is something of a magical instrument as I was told by my gdad that it was used to communicate with our ancestors. It’s so satisfying to see this invention of Ojapiano. You have opened the door to this and I expect our creative produces to cook more as I still have this flute with many tunes from my childhood still playing in my head. Kudos to all Naija beat producers. May you never run dry of ideas and may the spirit of our ancestors be with you😊

@@michaelkemas As a medic I wish I could say an absolute yes to that as I love good music, but not as yet. Fortunately we got lots of oja players maybe in the towns and villages now. In the late 80s and early 90s it was quite common to have your uncles, cousins easily play the oja, carve one out and handover to you for apprenticeship as you have to join the age grade group for masquerades, learn local dances and stuff like that. One thing I know for sure is I can still find my way around the oja even though I might struggle, but once the tones get to a beat box, the possibility of cooking and dishing tunes would be endless
