Sad thing is that I remember when this song came out. I was in foster care til I was 18, and wished I could find the true love they were singing about. When I was 40 years I finally married the love of my life which is what they were singing about. I thank God everyday since

This song came out when I was still in high school. I was an absolutely lonely boy, always looking for what was described in this song. Thought I found it twice, only to be fooling myself. 80’s & 90’s the last two great decades before the internet really took off. No caller ID, You never knew who was calling you. You were lucky if you had 1 computer in the house. You couldn’t pause live tv. Either you watched it at the same time every single person in your time zone did or you missed it. Listening to the radio and just waiting / ready to push record on the tape player to record it to a cassette tape. If you wanted to buy the actual cassette or cd and you didn’t know who the artist was, you would have to sing it to the guy behind the counter at tower records. Oh and you had to make sure to get home before the street lights came on
