First, I agree. The media seeks what they think is sensational to increase "sales". The more they use this unnecessary label, the more we get accustomed, the sooner it won't matter. It's 2024, and when k.d. is the topic, it's about 1)a gifted vocalist/songwriter, 2)who has been dubbed as the duet partner for other greats, and 3)the anguish of fans since she's maybe retired. She was ahead of the others on many fronts.

I believe k.d. Has had her career the way SHE wanted…..not A thousand people pulling her this way and that. She’s done what she wanted, sang with others when she wanted, sang solo when she wanted (which is what most prefer) as she has that VOICE, moving up and down our bodies in goosebumps. Have loved her sound since I first heard her and continue for a lifetime.

It's just that careers are always compared with the likes of Madonna / Elton John / the rolling stones these are the top 0.001% of success and k.d. is still way more successful than the majority of working musicians who none of us will ever hear about. I mean she performed solo at the Olympics ceremony. She seems too down to earth and 'normal' to be a huge international star anyway. Great talent though.

Vulnerable and strong, expressive and true, unapologetic and humble. And the usual, beautiful, and Mysterious paradoxes. Gorgeous and exuberant, spiritual.
