Allen Collins...self-taught guitarist whose blistering solo on "Freebird" was done in 2 takes during the original recording. R I P to one of the most underrated guitarists ever.

When these guys did the instrumental of Free Bird, with Ronnies hat hanging front & center on the mic stand - I thought the balcony of The Tower Theatre was going to come down.

I was at this concert. I recall conflict happening within the band. Was great to see them/heartbreaking to see what was happening between them.

A classic from a band that scenario fits analogy “ If you wanna sing the blues you gotta pay the dues” Such a shame that Rock has died!

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Opportunity Lyrics There've been times when I Have stumbled over my mistakes And there've been times when I Have fallen flat on my face But you tell me there's never been A day like that for you Then I'll stop and listen To what you think I should do Now I can take this pressure That you think you're handing down But take off the robe And put the gavel down Cause nothing changes in this life But everything, my friend Don't go cryin' 'bout today Because of what has been Opportunity is for the taking Look inside yourself, you'll see Then go clean up your own backyard, Leave my yard to me Now, if the cup had Really not been meant to pass to me Surely I would not presume to drink But there they are And they're reaching out for me What else would you have me to think Opportunity is for the taking Look inside yourself, you'll see Then go clean up your own backyard, Leave my yard to me There've been times when I Have stumbled over my mistakes And there've been times when I Have fallen flat on my face But you tell me there's never been A day like that for you Then I'll stop and listen To what you think I should do Opportunity is for the taking Look inside yourself, you'll see Then go clean up your own backyard, Leave my yard to me

It's actually by the Rossington-Collins band which was made up of the surviving members of Lynyrd Skynyrd, sans Artimus Pyle, as he got injured in a motorcycle accident, so Derek Hess became the band's drummer.

The original, pre crash versions of LS, and RCB far exceeded most bands of thier era as far far as musical ability. The average Rock music fan usually isn't schooled into what it actually takes to make great music. And, to more importantly, play together as a band. Its a lost art. The bullshit bands of the 90's in particular, relied on wierd noises to fool people into thinking they were good musicians

@@oneofthefew1777 I think he's talking about the 1981 classic movie "Nighthawks". This song is played during the scene where Rutger Hauer kills his g/f because she knows too much about him. He sends her off with the chilling phrase "You're off to a better life". He's an international terrorist on the run from cops Sly Stallone and Billy Dee Williams.
@MrMitchelljung6 ай бұрын
@oneofthefew1777 it was a reference to the movie Nighthawks 1981. She was jammin this song before she got murdered

Good quality, thank you, it's a real pleasure. No offense here, i'm just curious why some people post videos with awful sound record. It is unpleasant to the ears.
