Keenan won with that trip. Having a basically impassable guard, Adams sweeps just couldn’t be enough.

@Porrada Everyday I actually started in 2009, but I went mia for 15 years :) I'm not taking away credit to the skill and ingenuity, but I'm allowed an opinion.
@vibovitold4 жыл бұрын
@Porrada Everyday I started in 2007 or 2008, can't remember now. Either way I'm not that new to bjj (although I admit it feels like that sometimes). Of course bjj is a sport and it's not trained predominantly for self-defence, I don't expect that. What I'd like is just not severing the connection completely. I wouldn't play a de la Riva guard to subdue an actual opponent, sure - while I use it in competitions. There is a difference between some of the "non-practical" moves though. Some of them fit in as just elements of the game - but they're not good for stalling. You'll be using them at an opportunity, and inevitably switching away from them. Others tend to BECOME THE GAME. The "worm guard" falls into that category to me. It's not the same thing. And of course it's not the only example. I don't particularly like the new school of "sit down on your ass and start playing with eachother's feet for ten minutes until you win on an advantage". It's a good thing, if overdue, that they took an action against it (penalties for passivity come much more quickly now). You can ruin a sport doing everything by the book; it happened before.

@@jackthompson852 i've read the rules. it doesn't matter if Keenan advanced, sneezed or levitated. the rules are quite clear: the opponent has to FORCE you to the ground. not the case here. any takedown attempt must be initiated BEFORE a guard pull in order to count. against, not the case here (watch it in slow motion). there isn't any explicit distinction of advancing vs retreating in IBJJF rules - certainly not among the ones that apply to takedowns. if you question any of that: please quote the rulebook.
