I always thought I would water less in Winter but it’s the opposite for me. The heater is on and makes everything more dry in my home during Winter. Great tips. 💚🇨🇦

I have some experience with houseplants but I still found this video helpful. As a retired teacher and fellow Hoosier, I really appreciate your hand drawn diagram. Well done! I also love your plant room and how most plants are in a group or against the plant wall instead of scattered everywhere. It is very attractive how you have arranged your plants.

I love this video. I love your chart. I try to get this point across to people who ask me my water schedule. I also fertilize all winter. Because my plant room is 80 degrees and the humidity is very high and its lit for 16 hours. I try to explain what works for me wont work for others. This video explains it perfectly and I'm going to share it with some friends who need it! Thank you!

Also need to take in to account your heating source in the winter. Forced air furnace tends to make the air in side dryer in the winter when it's running. When temps are colder ad the furnace runs more often, air in the house can get even dryer on those days. So when watering you need to add this into your evaluation before deciding to water or not.

We need to know what type of plant we are buying to begin with and what it’s particular needs are. I have found that kind of information difficult to find in most places that sell plants. A buyer has to know if the plant is a tropical plant or a jungle plant. Is it a succulent or something else? I visited a plant store recently and could not even find the name of some of the indoor plants anywhere. There were those minimal instructions; like “moderate sun, water when dry or partially dry” and that is it! When I buy a plant that I have never had before it is not always easy to find out what kind of soil it needs. Most nurseries grow their young plants in mostly peat moss mix but that usually is not going to work well over the long term on many different types of plants. I bought the most beautiful Aphelandra Squarrosa last year and have had a terrible time getting good information on how to keep it healthy. It did well at first and produced several “flowers” but through the winter started dropping leaves. 😱 I am beginning to think that some of the larger nurseries leave out the proper growing information just so we will kill the plants and come back to buy more! I know….a conspiracy theory! I do know that more info used to be available when buying a plant. The internet is not always as informative as we need it to be. The more popular types of plants are covered but if you buy something not quite the rage at the moment there is very little information.

Greetings Devin. I have a question that is not related to today’s topic. But, I do have a question that I’ve been meaning to ask. In your videos I see a lot of gorgeous plants in your home. Thank you..because you’re a positive inspiration. WOO-HOO! However, I don’t see a Bonnie Curly Spider plant or the Tradescantia Zebrina (Wandering Jew plant) displayed in your videos. Are these plants of interest to you? If not, why? Oh, and what about the Sansevieria Jade Star? To me, it’s unique looking from the other Sansevieria plants. I wasn’t able to find a Curly Spider plant or the Jade Star in my local area. Therefore, I had to order these two beauties online.

Hi! I actually have a struggling spider plant that I was experimenting with to see just how low level of light it could handle, so it's in a rough shape. And I do have two Tradescantia, Nanouk and Tradescantia pallida! I love them both, they grow nonstop

@@plantvibrations Oh okay, I just haven’t seen the Wandering Jew plant displayed. If possible, try and show that on one of your videos. I’d like to see it. I have heard they can be fast growers. Thanks again for your videos.

@@plantvibrations Devin, is it better to water plants on top or bottom watering? I’ve heard that if one waters from the bottom, the plant will drink up the amount of water it needs. And one won’t have to worry so much about root rot. However, if one top waters it can flush excess salts and mineral deposits to the bottom of the pot. So with that said which is best? Or can one alternate at any given time? Your advice is welcomed.
