I'm a notebook person too. Writing it down with your own hand can't be replaced by technology.

Ane then there's the occasional celebrity stylist who will forever extoll the virtue of the ever so disgusting baseball cap as well as constantly claiming that bloody white sneakers work with *everything* ... they do if everything you ever wear is athleasure... Best regards Raoul G. Kunz

Another brilliant video, thank you. I have kept journals since 1992. I use the Letts 11x and a fountain pen. Using a fountain pen reduces plastic use. M.

Great advice Ash. I’ve kept a journal at work for years. It was recommended to me by a supervisor and it has always helped me stay organized. I find it also conveys a sense of polite sincerity when you write notes during a conversation or meeting as opposed to banging away on a keyboard while someone is mid sentence. Great video.

As much as we love technology, nothing can't replace the art of handwriting with a proper pen (I have a Montblanc) on paper. What I find most appealing about this, is the art of organization, thoughts, words, and especially penmanship.

I started journaling, or maybe more accurately (at least initially) talking notes, 16 years back when it became clear that I would have to plan and note down aspects of my health, or more precisely the lack thereof😅, and damages suffered as well as the legal and insurance connected implications and explicit meanings of "the accident". It really got more substantial when na sister gifted me a Leuchtturm 1917 journal to better do this. Since then it has grown in dimension and as a side effect both my handwriting has grown was better (I even started to change the script I use from the *abysmally ugly* "final Latin script" I learned at school to the more elegant "Offenbach script") and I have since changed my writing implements from the ever present ballpoint pen and it's disgusting oil based ink to (ever more collectable and/or expensive...) proper fountain pen. And that's on top of the cold utilitarian use I get in halfway organizing my life. And of course handwriting to me has proven it's value as a mnemonic device. Best regards Raoul G. Kunz

Nothing beats the handwritten note - but I do like the Notes app on my iphone. It is more powerful and useful than perhaps you might think. Thanks😊

Been having alot of fun using the mew Kaweco sport pen I ordered based on your review, in the leischturm notebook I also got based on your review. Both are fabtastic. Good morning sirs. I now have a collection of fountain pens etc which I can now use in my own version of a journal and note keeping and reminders. Always useful as my memory isn't as good as it used to be. Excellent video☕

Hello Ash - I recently came across your channel and really appreciate the content you are creating. I've had intentions of starting a journal for years and finally begin a few weeks ago after watching this video. I have almost forgot how to use cursive, my first few pages were barely legible. I now enjoy my time journaling and taking time to reflect on my day, personal goals, gratitude, and time away from electronics. Thank you.

Give it a while and your journal will become a trusted friend and confidant, as well as a great organiser and memory tome.

😃I agree, my sister has diary's and a journey. As I've seen loads of your videos and you have spoken about using a journey and using a fountain pen, I use now a Lamy Safari Fountain pen and a Jinhao 777 version of the Lamy Safari, it works quite well for journaling, as it improved my writing! 😃

I deleted my free comment because the Circle System may be something I implement. Previous comment: I wear a Garmin (I know... smartwatch) and it actually tells me that my "stress" levels are lower than my SLEEP when I am journalling. Some people may find some next to free mental health benefits by doing it. I sure do.

That is a fascinating statistic - I would never have thought journaling had such a significant impact over one's stress levels. Thank you for sharing that.

Ash, at 1000 every Monday I have PLOW (PLn Of the Week) with Mrs K. That way we both know what the week has ‘To Do’ for us both. I use the Circle system too and the nice thing is that even if I don’t do everything it gets passed forward to the next week, importantly it’s not lost…

Hi Ash, Thanks for the great channel. I have recently subscribed, and you have some fantastic content. I definitely agree with you about journaling. I keep two journals that I fill out nightly. One for work that really helps me to keep track of the various projects I'm managing and prioritise my daily to-do list. The other I keep at the side of my bed and document my daily dealings, what I could have done better, how I handled situations, etc. Hand writing them, I feel, allows you to focus and give an honest account.

I have three on the go; 1: A to-do/ general day to day notes. 2: Journal where I get a bit introspective about what’s going on in my life and my future plans. 3: Book journal where I write summaries of the books I read. This one’s quite good at adding an analogue experience to digital books, a bit of a best of both worlds situation in the physical books vs ebook debate. Also helps the knowledge sink in to the brain. That’s quite a lot of writing, but the handwriting still leaves a bit to be desired! All the best, Finn.

I am curious. If one day your granddaughter is reading some of your journal entry's what would she learn and what would she think? What would you think if you found your grandfathers journal from his younger manhood before you ever met him. Perhaps letters your grandmother keep from when they were dating before marriage? As I get older I sometimes think of things I would wish I had discussed with my grandparents but as a wee lad never considered.

I have the fortunate situation, in that I am building a visual journal of sorts with this KZfaq channel, so if I croaked unexpectedly, my son and future family will be able to see me extolling the virtues of shiney shoes well into the next millennium. But in all seriousness, I maintain a journal for purely personal reasons - such as time management and to create a sense of order in my life.

Thanks Ash, I do have some ups and downs so will give it a go again. I have found, since retirement from work, although I do lots of DIY type jobs at times I can lie in bed if I wish and it tends to be negative in the long term.

I may not be one who journals. However, I do use a day planner (and have for years). Unfortunately the paper is to thin for me to make use of my fountain pen collection. Dose anyone have any recommendations for planners (monthly view) that has paper that would work well with fountain pens?
