He's such an amazing artist. I once wanted to achieve the same goal in my drawings-mixing traditional with images of todays society. I wish he painted more women.

He is not a painter he is a conceptual artist all of his paintings are traced from photos and the way that they are painted is akin to paint by numbers. He fails as a conceptual artist in painting the way that he does if his style we're actually accurate to his conception he would paint in the style that he's copying but he does not have the ability to do that he does not have the physical knowledge to do that. I find these paintings very racist but we have all been conditioned to accept a position of diversity it allows 4 Reverse Racism it should be intolerable. If anything he is a con man who has used racial sympathy as a platform. His art is at best satirical Maybe editorial but not fine art in any way

@@williamhicks8999 Lol. The reverse of racism is no racism. Small minds can't grasp the concept. I'm sure all the original subjects didn't pose for hours or days while they were being painted, idiot. In fact, many of the subjects were pillagers and murderers so only like minded individual get upset. As far as racism, the whole concept of the originals are about superiority and conquest. Again, only like minded individuals would think it is a good part of history. He could simply choose to create his own concept but that wasn't my point. The point was, I thought works by the old masters were flawless. that notion can be intimidation to young artist. However, recognizing that imperfection is ok can lead to more confidence and less intimidation.

I don't get it. Why paint black men in the context of European history, when we have our own history that predates European history? Implies inferiority of blacks/ black history, or makes his work appear cartoonish. His is a great painter, however.

This guy's work is so horrible. The over use of detail and colors makes the pieces hard on the eyes. I understand the symbolism but the style makes it to disjointed. The process is ridiculous and the style is tacky, gaudy.

People paint what THEY feel not what others want. Why does that bother you? You have white artist that paint JUST black people and so on and so forth. 🤷🏽‍♀its not big deal

its funny how you somehow saw this video and still entirely missed the point of his work - his art focuses on the representation of black people in the media and the lack of their representation in art history. He has also painted brown people and south American people because the same can apply to them. These political messages don't apply to white people and so he doesn't paint them in that light when theres plenty of artworks that display only white people and the image commonly associated with them. Tbh if it were a white artist painting only white people you probably wouldnt be whining about it lmao
