She seemed to try to show no reaction at all when Sunak's tax rises were mentioned though (implication being that she thinks Sunak has had taxes too high and should lower them). Ironic thing is, taxes are high due to Tory waste and incompetence, and Braverman seems to be good at both of those.

Never thought I'd say this, but a truly excellent speech from Starmer. Very statesmanlike, commanding so much more respect than the PM. Eloquent, humorous at times, but also ruthless when it came to holding the Tories to account. For the first time in years, I feel - dare I say it - optimistic about the country's future. It feels like there's finally light at the end of the tunnel. We need a general election as soon as possible.

If you think the Tories are evil and cruel now, wait till after the 2024 election. They may well be reduced to a rump of 150 MPs, wors🤣 than 1997.😊🙃😊 Given that the post 2019 party had already been purged of anyone resembling a human being, imagine them reduced by 50%. That will leave the hard core xenophobes, privatisers, hangers and floggers, the detritus of UKIP and the Tory hard right. That will be the post 2024 Conservative parliamentary party. Now Braverman's gibberings make sense-the above mentioned dregs of the far right are the people she'll be appealing to in the leadership election in 2025. The membership countrywide will have a say, but given that the party members elected Liz Truss, she probably won't lose too much sleep over that. Just give a speech demanding the public flogging of asylum seekers arriving in a small boat and Braverman will have their vote locked up.☹

@@malthusXIII-fo3epExcept Brown did no such thing. Brown didn't "dump" austerity on the Tories in the slightest. The Tory/Lib dem Coalition introduced "austerity measures" in 2010. This was a choice, entirely manufactured by them. Not Labour. A choice incidentally, that we were told was temporary and would only be in place for a year or so. The Tories never lifted austerity measures, and everyone has been living with a pay freeze ever since.
@ragerancher7 ай бұрын
@@malthusXIII-fo3ep Utter nonsense. Labour had overseen a recovery starting after the GLOBAL economic crash (in which Brown was recognised internationally as one of the cool heads leading the recovery and limiting the damage). The UK had returned to growth before the coalition came in. They imposed austerity on the country when nobody said it was needed. It was their economic policies that reversed the recovery and brought in the decade and a half of stagnation and the biggest transfer of wealth to the already wealthy this country has seen. Then again, quite usual for a Tory to try to blame Labour for a Tory policy. It seems even the Tories know how shit their policies have been and can't distance themselves enough from them.

It doesn’t really matter who you vote anymore it just swings from one planned disaster/accident to another. You should consider who really does pull the strings of our parliament and others around the world, none of them truly represent the people or work proactively for them. One question I always ask people is do you honestly want the UK to go fully woke under Labour further corrupting the threadbare family values of our society? hopefully not if they have any ounce of common sense.. Also consider that KS is a trilateralist that is being groomed for the role of PM, it would serve you well to understand what the aims of this organisation are and consider what may be coming into being in the next few years in the run up to fully implementing agenda 2030. I have no affiliation to any group but urge all UK voters to read this and make an informed decision rather than just going off of some smart one-liners (written by someone else btw) delivered by just another front bench actor, sadly the UK public never look behind the masks and accept everything the media tell me without any form of independent research and critical thinking labourheartlands.com/sir-keir-starmer-the-establishment-candidate-the-labour-leadership-race-and-the-trilateral-commission/

I'll say this about Starmer. He has come a long way from being a newbie ex-civil servant to a statesman. That was one of the best addresses the house has seen in recent years. We all know what we will get with another Tory government if they win the next election. More of the same. Whatever your opinion of Starmer, I don't think you can accuse him of delivering more of the same if Labour wins the next election.

That's exactly what he'll deliver, though. He's already gone back on promises to uphold LGBT rights issues. He and his clique shot down a demand by the vast majority of Labour members to nationalise industry.
