Sir Keir Starmer is confident Labour will win a majority at the next general election, the party leader has said in an interview with ITV News Political Editor Robert Peston.
The man who believes he will replace Rishi Sunak as prime minister claimed Labour's success at the local elections in many of England's battleground constituencies shows the party's direction of travel.
"I'm confident that we can form a government with a majority," he said.
"And that's because of the numbers and the places that we have been winning."

The recent Labour "win" is actually a loss. When everyone is disgusted by the Tories, to win with a mere majority of around 9%, is as good as a loss. The electorate didn't want to vote neither for the Tories, nor for Labour.... It was a protest vote against both.

Labour cheated on local elections 2023 Starmer used his candidates to make it like as if they won yet they didn’t. Labour lost in Bracknell and Tory Is the one that won there and Startmer dodged the results and also making Green Party and Lib Dem win instead for Starmer is planning to do coalition with these parties. There was a small amount of voters percentages and Labour gained from 49 non overall areas and Labour can’t get majority seats but Tory can. Scotland London and Birmingham didn’t vote on these local elections too. Labour is dangerous party if they win we will have open borders, float the boats, higher tax soft on crime and Starmer is not a PM Material. This man is a hypocrite and he will never win general elections but Sunak will. Starmer has no morals in his leadership and he is aggressive leader and idealistic and indecisive

@@davecross4493 honestly, I think you/they’e living in the past. Hanging on to what the parties USED to represent. That obviously do not now. Actions speak louder than buzz words. That all parties throw around like, levelling up. When they’re actually levelling down. Sustainability, so corrupt corporations can make billions from so called environmental protection- instead of tackling real damage done to the climate by said, corrupt corporations. That don’t stop pollution at all, just rent or buy a few trees. Are Labour against 15 minute cities , 20 min neighbourhoods? No. The who and UN taking over our rights to decide on when to call a crisis, health or climate? No. Are they against cbdc’s? No. We’re they against lockdown? No, they wanted them sooner and for longer. With no data to back it up. Did they vote against mandatory experimental medication for all health workers. No. We’re they against of V passports. No. Are they against low emissions zones, that do feck all to co2 levels but cause mass hardship for the majority of the population. What about freedom of speech, taking away the right to peaceful protests. No. If there’s something really important, like the things I’ve said, and I’ve missed it. Happy for you to enlighten me. But to me they’ve been the worst opposition party ever. They haven’t blocked any of these things. Soo, I draw the obvious conclusion all the major parties are the same. Look at the old blue/ red top news paper. They now say the same thing. And I’m from a majority Labour voting family. They’d vote a donkey with a red rosette.
