British Prime Minister Keir Starmer says his government will not continue with the previous Conservative government’s policy to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda.
“The Rwanda scheme was dead and buried before it started. It’s never been a deterrent,” Starmer tells his first news conference, after his Labour Party won a landslide in the general election.
“I’m not prepared to continue with gimmicks that don’t act as a deterrent,” he says, describing it as a “problem that we are inheriting”.
The news conference followed Starmer’s first Cabinet meeting.
The contentious law was approved by Parliament in April and the authorities started detaining asylum seekers in May.

A seamless transition from the Tories, no one will notice the difference. Washington can rely on a slavishly obedient UK government, Washington's blood soaked, carnage laden forever wars shall find no greater or more enthusiastic spear-carrier. Vote often, vote harder, vote like you really mean it this time, your choices are and shall always be Thatcher or Blair. You've chosen your next Blair, that's nice.

They have tour the country, start strategising about policies and what order they need to put them in for the public in terms of needs and wants (just because it’s not your priority doesn’t mean it’s everyone else you narcissist) so right now he’s focusing on foreign policy to repair our relationship with other nations to then help trade relationships and also Ukraine is currently our go between Russia encroaching into Europe while also trying to prevent nuclear war (I doubt the NHS would be any good then, yeah?) so yes he’s going to address Ukraine as that is the number one global issue right now. Why don’t you give it a month or so for the government to go down the laundry list of screw ups that the Tories have caused and how they are going to fix it? In ALL advanced nations worst Healthcare system is in America and 2nd is UK. NHS needs complete restructuring. Btw, I am not a UK citizen and don't live there. I am in Canada and involved in Canadian Healthcare system. Goodluck to labour party and ALL UK residents

So Starmer points out high recitivism and failure of prison systems overall even not just in the UK- but then fails to mention any desire of improving policies for rehabilitation of criminal behaviour nor the ties to socio-economic status, and in regards to political violence- voter disenfranchisement and how radicalization increases as a result

Focus on the British working class, the British middle class, and the very poor....and be transformational about it. And you will be remembered as a great leader. Focus on the very rich and the military and you will be remembered as a Tory-lite leader who failed to live up to the times.
