Xhaka is vital to this team. The whole armband frustration thing just showed that he has pride passion and commitment. The sort of values that Arteta wants in his players. Playing Xhaka slightly advanced now also takes him further away from potential defensive mistakes of the past. Odegaard, Tierney and maybe Gabriel are the the obvious future captain pool going forward.
