From about 1998 on, these three were at the 55 Bar in Manhattan every Thursday night. Place held about 60 people, half of whom were guitarists getting free lessons from Wayne. Wayne introduced Keith to Steely Dan and he's been with them ever since.

I don't think the music is bad, it's just purely that Carlock makes it work. That said, the music leaves space for him to make it work while also being interesting enough to engage with. I feel like a robot saying this.

kc's whole approach to drums is mesmerizing, he even sets up his kit in a spiral pattern. That simple row of cymbals arranged from dark to brilliant makes sense the way he rolls around on them. his playing kind of sounds like crashing waves, peaceful with a tremendous amount of power underneath. its soothing in a way

That’s the only reason I’ve heard of him, because I think Louis Cole is a drumming genius. Kieth Carlock and Nate Wood both stylistic similarities to Louis Cole; it’s a wildly unique style of playing, that’s also insanely technically demanding

As far as I’m concerned, in this style of music and playing, as fantastic and creative and inventive as the other players might be, a drummer this good is the centerpiece, working ten times as hard as the others combined.

why would u say that with all respect? it's about perspectives? idk. i actually think it's amazing that guitar sound what kind of style gives to the whole band and how also with not too many notes gives the best vibes for this style. i'm not putting extra effort to listen to crazy solos or riffs on ths video but i'm totally feeling here and i really like it...
