OWGR will never work for LIV golfers at this point because their rankings have dropped so much that strength of field will never be correct again (it would take more than 2 years for it to correct with their current strength of field calculations).

What if the deal is already finalized (which I favor) and these deadlines are simply marketing ploys? After all these are serious and experienced BUSINESS entities involved here! Let’s look at the issues involved: 1. Money! We like to think of our viewing preferences as SPORTS and to some extent they are but do not lose track of the fact that it is all about the money and the money rules. 2. A huge and costly effort has been made by the “TOURS”, the TV Networks, Major Sponsors, Equipment Manufacturers and Golfing Facilities to create this lucrative and global entity … let’s call it simply GOLF. The Players and those 5 entities are not going to kill that Golden Goose recklessly. 3. Once there were a few people bashing a leather bag of feathers around in a Scottish cow field and eventually there were 2 Tours: The USA version and the European version (or more appropriately THE REST OF THE WORLD TOUR). Then suddenly there was the Minnie Tour (Now called the Korn Ferry). Why? Because Big Money entities demanded a bigger, better, more marketable product, one which not just anybody could join. And that worked well!!! Then came THE SENIOR TOUR (Now THE CHAMPIONS TOUR) but for a very different reason. These BRANDS had been developed and were too valuable to be wasted away. 50 years old was the join age because by that age most were unable to compete. Yes, there were a few Nicklaus, Mickelson, etc. who managed to continue to impress. Now my conclusion…. LIV is the new Mid-Life TOUR. Why? Because the new GOLF talent is Bigger, Better Physically and Mentally and the best athletes (Because the money is very good) right out of College, I give you people like Scottie Scheffler (from nowhere to 50 weeks as World Number One, and others to follow (Knapp?). Like it or not it is time for those players in LIV to be in LIV. And Rory will be there soon and be happy to be there. This weekend I was flipping between NBC and CW and totally enjoying both. Keep in mind Mickelson and Greg Norman are bright people… Have you eaten in a Greg Norman restaurant, I have, and it was a great experience, Most Pro shops carry Greg’s clothing. I have half a closet full!

Don’t think it’s going to happen at all. LIV has no incentive to do a deal, and the PGA Tour has no leverage to speak of to force one. Don’t think for one minute Greg Norman’s massive ego is going to surrender anything as long as he is playing with PIF funny money. Now, if PIF pulled the plug, that would change everything. But we know that’s not happening.

Rory to LIV. Hear me out. Rory would actually bring the game together by switching. It would cause such a disruption it would make all parties involved work out a deal.

Agree, that kind of defection would probably be the final tipping point that would lead to a lasting resolution being hammered out for some kind of unification, as Tiger really isn't much of an active player anymore. Getting Scheffler and Matsuyama to sign with LIV Golf would probably also help bridge that gap in a big way. A new world ranking system needs to be established in order to allow the most lucrative-paying 54 spots in LIV Golf to be constantly up for grabs for the world's very best 54 players, with players being allowed to jump up into the LIV Golf circuit mid-season based on their ongoing level of play in both LIV and the relegation feeder division below. LIV would play the same number of annual tournaments, but the individual scores would matter much more since playing poorly would quickly result in relegation, while the relegation/feeder division would play more events throughout the year to give pro golfers the opportunities to jockey for entry positions into LIV. This would make watching both tours interesting with lots riding on individual performances.

I think the DP world tour made a huge mistake, they should have kept separate from the PGA....think about it, they would get 5-10 tourneys per year with DJ, Cam Smith, Rahm, Bryson, etc etc since those players need ranking points. Their tour could have grown over this. Players were not being poached from their tour, why they came out lock step with the PGA is beyond me.

Don’t know how long but I was just gonna say asking lame duck Pelley -famous for blindly following Monahan -about this deal is like asking chubby-Rory’s long fired agent -about Rory’s business future. I don’t care how long. I enjoyed LIv the last few days and now I’m trying to catch up on pga tour. I’ve watched golf for a long time and I rarely got Phil and tiger much less everyone together. So this truly feels like I’m getting the closest thing to everyone together with LIv. And as more big names move, the more I will have that feeling. The only thing that I care about are the majors not ruining their integrity. Great niemann is in but that’s just one of an increasing number who will be missing from majors when they clearly should be there.

So if this deal doesn't go through then this is what I'd do if I were PIF Starve PGA of talent, starve them of money. 1. Setup a feeder tour. They could easily out fund the korn ferry tour and attract a lot of DP tour players. That would starve the PGA tour of new talent and resolve the relegation issue for OWGA. 2. Go after top college golfers and get them tied into LIV contracts, like they've done with Surratt. Again starve the PGA tour of talent. 3. Go after some of PGA tops sponsors, there's enough with ties to Saudi they would have an influence on. Let's face they've already lost a couple of big ones, losing even more talent to LIV plus falling TV ratings could easily push a lot of other over the edge. 4. Loosing talent will cost them significant TV money. Within a couple of years PGA is done.

LIV doesn't need the pgatour or dp world tour, pgatour doesn't need LIV but the DP World tour is in trouble. The Asian tour can quickly overtake the DP World tour in significance. The Asian tour is already hosting events in the middle east. If the DP World tour had any sense they would merge with the Asian tour and feed into LIV for their 14 events and then have all those great players available to play anywhere they choose on their World tour

The PGA Tour and DP Tour, agreed to the merger with LIV for one reason, avoiding the expensive litigation with LIV, which they stood a good chance of losing, due to their breaching of the anticompetitive laws, which they had each breached through their actions and comments against LIV. Both the PGA Tour and DP Tour, have been dragging their feet over finalising the merger. If they mess LIV about, they will fire back, and take both tours to task legally.

Best for Rory to realise that siding with the PGA Tour is doing more and more damage to him. He is losing a lot of fans and while he is being the mouthpiece for the PGA and fighting the fight the PGA Tour is not trasparent with him. It is clear that the PGA Tour is not willing to work on a real solution that will be good for both LIV and the PGA Tour. At least the DPWT has not closed its door towards LIV players playing in its events. So that would be a good move for Rory to migrate back to DPWT. He is European after all. Can still play Ryder Cup, still play majors, earn ranking points plus can play some signature PGA events due to his status. There are already a few LIV players playing DPWT events in the hopes of getting entry to majors but his move might have players like DJ, Brooks, Bryson, Smith etc also decide to play the odd event. Next thing is suddenly the DPWT has a better field (unofficially) than the PGA Tour.

While I can easily imagine making the money those guys make, I can’t imagine how they really feel when they are out there with no fans around, lousy loud music playing, and not much a finale when they end almost simultaneously. Do you think Pelley is getting paid more or less to run Maple Leaf? If he's getting paid more (and I bet he is) then, isn't he bailing his job when things got tough to chase the bigger bucks? If so, then it would seem he and the LIV pros have a lot in common. Finally, why is he making any statements at all? He's leaving next month, I would advise him to shut his piehole, nothing he says is going to help the next guy. All in all, there's too much ego and hypocrisy on the part of the guys who don't swing a club, and, mind me for saying so, I think it's a huge problem in the world today...
