Contrary to some folks, Keith Richards is not a friendly vampire. He may look deceased, but he is a mortal, too. When the Rolling Stones and the other bands from way back in the very early day of rock 'n' roll are gone, some other bands may keep that roots Chicago electric blues going. Buddy Guy knew and knows 'em all. He's retiring from the major touring this year. Please, go check out the great legacy of the Chicago blues legend from 6 decades. I have been to numerous Buddy Guy shows being from Chicago, Illinois, and they are all memorable. He can still put on a fantastic show. He was there in the 50s!

What a great compilation, my hat is off! Be great if there was a Keith lead vocal on Connection. My hero all the way, in everything. So glad I grew up in the Sixties and the super Seventies. Hell yeah, keep Rolling
@williamscheer14817 ай бұрын
The first time I heard ‘Connection’ was on an album I had bought. The album was called ‘Paper Money’. The band was named after the guitarist Ronnie Montrose and the vocalist on the song was Sammy Hagar. Not taking anything away from The Stones and THEY ARE my favorite and THE GREATEST Rocknroll band of all time but I like the slow tempo bluesy version by Montrose even more than the original version by the Stones which, by the way, I didn’t hear until 7 or 8 years later. Sammy’s vocals on the Montrose version are some of his best and he definitely does the song justice. Hats off to The Stones and to Sammy Hagar and Montrose! Incidentally and on a side note, I also like Aerosmith’s version of ‘Train Kept a Rollin’ far more than the original by The Yardbirds and Roy Orbison’s original version of ‘Pretty Woman’ later covered by Van Halen…that one could go either way so I’ll call it a draw.

I'm fifty-eight years of age, and I picked up my first guitar at age thirteen. I had heard Wild Cherry jam on "Play that funky music" alongside Aerosmith's "Walk this way", and i pretty much knew that I was destined to be a rock n' roll guitarist, and for me that was just fine, even if that was the only thing that I would ever accomplish in my lifetime. Joe Perry was a huge influence, along with Ritchie Blackmore, and many others. I was in Tucson, Arizona with a broken leg dosing myself to the max on few tall bottles of Darvocet N-100's when I heard "Miss You" for the very first time, and i remember thinking that whoever penned that tune was extremely talented. To make this short story long, these days I still learn a lot about music from Keith Richards. In my opinion he is the Godfather of anyone who loves to play guitar, like me. I've never met the man, but if I ever did, I believe that our mutual love for guitar playing and making music would cement an honest, and serious friendship. He is one very talented, gifted player and writer. Thanx Keith for all the great riffs, and keep em' a coming . . . . . I'm pretty damn sure that I can handle it.☠️🎸☠️🎸☠️🎸☠️🎸☠️🎸☠️🎸☠️🎸☠️🎸☠️🎸☠️🎸☠️🎸☠️🎸☠️🎸☠️🎸☠️🎸☠️🎸☠️🎸☠️

Curtis Bushell, Thanks for a great compilation. I am 50. In 1988, when Keith went on his first tour with his solo band, The X-Pensive Winos, I went to the show at the Hollywood Palladium. I was 22. My older brother had just passed Bar Exam for California (licensing to be an attorney) after returning from Connecticut, with his law degree form Yale Law School. The tickets and a limo were my congratulations gift. In my top 5 of concerts ever!!(and I've been to hundreds over the years!) The atmosphere in the Palladium just waiting for Keith and the band to hit the stage was fucking electric!! Legend!! I took my brother and my best friend. Boys night out. We got so fucked up drunk we lost the limo!! (who does that!) lol lol Came out of show, forgot about limo and thought someone stole my brother's car. lol But my point-that night I put together, at that last minute before leaving for the show, a compilation tape similar to this, that we could rock to while in limo getting drunk and high!! lol Needless to say that was almost thirty years ago and long since gone. Just wanted to know the entire set list to this compilation in proper running order (times listed, if possible??) Thanks bro !!!

For those who weren't fortunate to have gotten close during the show, the stones really are a beautiful sight. 81 saw 3 shows in 3 days, 2 Philly 1 buffalo and we managed to creep up to the front even having to navigate with hangovers to kill an elephant but when the curtain was opening everything seemed to completely go away. The ride from Buffalo to Ottawa was rough.
@brianbard384611 ай бұрын
Hey Steve, I saw Detroit, where I live. But drove to Cleveland, and the show was smaller than the dome. I think it was tighter.
@stephenspidell632411 ай бұрын
@@brianbard3846 Brian, do I have a story for you. We went to Syracuse but we're stopped by the border guards when we screwed up where we were going, people without tickets were turned away. We finally got thru but stones were already on. Saw the biggest police horses I ever seen. So we made a decision to head to Detroit. We were 4 and 2 headed back to Toronto. Speer and I headed for Detroit, we got some sleep in Cleveland, not much. We pulled into Detroit and when we pulled up to the silverdome nobody, no cars nothing. Cops out at front gate basically thought we were idiots and said they were on tomorrow night. If looks could kill my friend would have, I screwed that up. Drove over to Windsor and slept. Saw the stones and were great, Iggy Pop was booed off stage in less than 15 mins. We headed back to Toronto and so I went from Ottawa to Toronto back to Syracuse and on to Detroit and back to Toronto. Around 2 great lakes in a rented car, not bad except when I got home to Ottawa found out I lost my job which led to lost credit rating. But it was a hell of a trip, forgot the stories in the stadium but this is long enough. Long live the stones, long live keef. This is absolutely true story and I'll tell you what happened in the Silverdome and rich stadium earlier.
@williamscheer14817 ай бұрын
I was only fortunate enough to see The Stones once in my lifetime; the Tattoo You tour at Candlestick Park in ‘81. They really are a sight to see and when the curtain goes up and there they are in all their glory, their larger than life persona surrounding them on the stage and you really feel like you’re seeing something very special and bearing witness to Rocknroll royalty! At no other concert ever did I have this special eyes wide open and completely fixated on Mick and Keith (sorry Ronnie, Charlie, Bill 🙄), mouth agape, awestruck “is this for real or am I having an out of body experience!?” feeling. You try your best to take in the experience and relish every moment and it seems as if time stands still (for at least the first couple songs). Then when the last song is over, the encore completed and the band is suddenly gone in a puff of smoke, you stand there completely drained and yet wishing you could press rewind and play it all back again!
