Hi it's Lauren Engel of Sidewalk Talk :) Today we have Keiynan Lonsdale who acted in Love Simon, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl. We chat about Keiynan coming out on set, going to Lightening in a Bottle, and his songs like Kiss The Boy, Good Life, Lay It On Me.

this is easily my favorite interview that keiynan has done. it's so personal and real. i love how comfortable and easygoing the conversation was. he is so so incredible! i could hear him talk for ages. he is such a beautiful person, inside and out.

Started watching Keiynan as a kid in Dance Academy when he played as Ollie. After that, I saw him in Divergent which got me back into him and, recently, in Love, Simon. It's crazy how much of an inspiration he's been on me. In Dance Academy his character, who was gay, made me understand being gay at a young age and I never questioned such love and helped me when I started questioning. Also, as a dancer I really love him. In Divergent he played my favourite character from both the books and movies, Uriah who was such a sweet heart and had such depth. Finally, in Love, Simon I just adored him. I was so excited when I saw he was in that movie and I was in tears watching it. That movie means everything to me. When he came out as bi, I was so proud of him and still am. Thanks, Keiynan, for being such an inspiration and so relatable as an Australian, sufferer of anxiety, dancer and member of the LGBTQ+ community.

Love, Simon has become by favorite film. It touched my heart in so many ways and I'm beginning the journey of coming out. I'm afraid some will stop being my friends but I need to do it to feel free.

if ur friends don’t except u for who u r then they aren’t ur real friends. it might be hard but i went through the same thing when i came out. some friends stayed and some lefted but it was for the best and now i’m happier. it might be hard but it will be for the best in the long run.

Okay, so, first of all--BRILLIANT. This came up in my "recommended" section (guess its not hard to figure out I've spent countless hours watching Keiynan's videos) and was absolutely what I needed to see. Such a great interview, very chill and you were clearly very prepared and I think this is actually one of the best interviews I've ever seen period.--it also goes without saying that Keiynan is amazing.

I'm glad you did this interview with Keiynan I got to know more about him. What I took away from this interview was he is genuinely a caring, honest, open, smart, determined, talented, wonderfully created human being molded perfectly by the creator's hands and put on this planet to shine brightly in this dark world that often doesn't have a lot of good hearted people to spread love and joy to.

Keiynan wow wish I had you as a friend growing up in Australia, I’m a melbourne boy but now I spend my life travelling the world for work so I can use it as an excuse not to be my true self! If life can provide me an opportunity I’d like to make LA my home... you are an inspiration even to me a 43yr old closet who has no meaningful relationships since I was 17😔😔 I’ll try and find my “blue” but first I need to find myself! Would help to have friends like you have! Good luck to your new ventures....

I'm sure traveling the world has been so beautiful, but like you said.. you've been using it to run away. The next chance you get to just be still, recognise that, & take it. Maybe it doesn't seem this way, but you've had the most meaningful relationship the entire time - the one with you. So it's time to be a good partner, no judgement for your past actions or your thoughts, just unconditional love & appreciation for making it this far despite everything. Treat yourself like you would a young kid who's in need of a guardian angel. You're ready :)
