In this video, we are comparing and reviewing the Kellogg’s Honey Smacks Cereal to the Post Golden Crisp Cereal. They are both sweetened puffed wheat cereal.

These cereals changed their names when it became controversial to have sugary cereals for kids. They used to be Kellogg's Sugar Smacks and Post Super Sugar Crisp. Sugar Bear sounded like Bing Crosby. Still sugary, but different names. You can watch vintage commercial on KZfaq. Thanks for the comparison.

@Monica Gebeau Martin - I loved Super Sugar Crisps as a child. My sister and I got to choose the cereal every other week and for the longest time, that was my pick (she always chose Cap’n Crunch - yuck).

I've never tried Honey Smacks. My dad used to eat Golden Crisp (Super Sugar Crisp), so I also developed a liking for them.

Golden Crisp contains more sugar per gram than Honey Smacks (which you thought tasted sweeter). This is why I like UK's nutritional information per 100 grams standard as it is easier to compare different products.

I prefer the Golden Crisps, but I wish they came in a smaller box, it's hard for me to finish such a large box, before they go stale (at which point, they do go styrofoam-y). I also like the Malt-o-Meal version (Golden Puffs), which comes in smaller boxes, and seems to stay fresher, longer.

Awesome review. I love everytime I get an idea for y'all to compare two food items y'all are always one step ahead. I think both cereals are very good. But I prefer the Honey smacks only because we bought the off brand version more growing up. And even now I sometimes get the Honey Wheat ones from Aldi. I'd be interested in seeing a blind test between The two brands to see which y'all prefer.

Super Golden Crisp is better. The ingredients are simple & that's why they cost more. But Sugar Smacks used to be really good. They changed the recipe & they're just spongy & not nearly as flavorful as they were. They did the same thing with Lucky Charms. They're no where near as good as they used to be.

Have you ever had Honey Oh’s? I tried them when I lived in Singapore. They are American. My favourite cereal! Try them if you haven’t.

Madison Killer yea they are good but they used to be called Honey Graham Ohs. they used to be MUCH better before they changed the recipe and name to honey ohs. they removed the graham flour from the ingredients in today's version. it used to taste like a honey graham cracker type cereal. I'm so mad about the change. 😆

Adding golden crisps to my shopping cart 😂 I literally ended up here because I couldn’t remember which one was the crunchier one. He hit the nail with calling honey smacks Styrofoam. Golden crisp is superior because of the texture the crunch gives 👏🏼

My favorite version of these is by Wegmans. They have their generic brand, and their honey smacks are my families favorite!! Especially my dad. The cereal milk it makes is so good :)

It’s funny too bc if you do the math Golden Crisp technically has more sugar per 36g, yet you found Honey Smacks more sweet. It just depends on the sweetener used it seems.

My dad ate boxes and boxes of these when I was a kid. I would always ask my mom to buy "Sugar Pops" (aka Corn Pops now), and she'd buy "Sugar Smacks" (now Honey Smacks). I hated them, and time after time, she'd buy them. My poor dad hated to waste food, so he ended up eating them.

Oh gosh I remember as a kid I pretty much binged on honey smacks 😅 I would serve myself three huge bowls and would regret it afterwards because of how full i was and all the sugar made me feel like poop lol.

After the claim of salmonella against Smacks, they changed the taste. Not the same. 1.99 and 2.79? What year did you buy this? Those prices are from years ago. Now those cereals cost 6 to 7 dollars.

These were only bought 7 months ago and the prices are the same now. Prices vary by region, so they may be cheaper in Kentucky (where we live) than where you live.

My problem with the honey smacks is it's hard to add a lot of milk because they want to float up and out of the bowl most other cereals don't do this as bad... But then again I ought to use a wider more shallow cereal bowl I guess kind of like you use this video and don't add a lot of milk then they stay in I wonder if the Golden crisp float in the same annoying manner. Seriously though one of the best cereals and I don't even eat cereal that much anymore but I get a craving for this sometimes.

I've always been a golden crisp fan over honey smacks. they're both like the WORST cereals available nutritionally speaking. 😆 they are also one of the few cereals i think are better in milk

In the UK when I was a kid my fav cereal was sugar puffs basically what this is and is made by same company who make weetabix, it's mascot is called the honey monster 🤣 he is a big yellow fluffy monster, but now because of the anti sugar fad they've changed them to honey puffs and they taste so dull and boring ☹

I’m the only person I know who hated these. I just never liked the sickeningly sweet honey sugar cereals. They tasted burnt? Honey smacks, golden crisp, Golden Grahams, etc. I also preferred plain cheerios to honey nut.
