I don't think Kelly actually wrote any part of this song. Avril wrote it in 2000, if I remember correctly.

@@jilldurham5498 Avirl actually wrote this song for her first album, but she didn't like it. She thought it was too much of a ballad for her. She then passed it to Kelly.

I hear people talk about soul a lot when referring to singers. What does soul refer to? Google only talks about soul in the form of a type of music. It doesn't say anything regarding artists and soul.

@@sipnog3528 It refers to the emotion and intention an artist can put into a song. You can be a good singer and have no soul to that singing because you don't mean the words you say, as in, you're focused on the words you sing but you do not focus on the meaning behind each word. So having soul refers to meaning the words you say on a deep level that is very visible through an artists performance. An artist that has soul to their singing can have off days of course but that's also pretty visible through performances. This does not mean that an artist that has soul cant be technical, they can. Aretha, Mariah and Whitney are great examples of that. You can see that they feel the music and know when to sing and how to sing as well as when to hold back. (It comes naturally and can't be forced because at the end of the day it is just a feeling of course)
