Kelly did this song as a fan request on her "Piece by Piece" tour. The band and Kelly only rehearse the covers that day of the concert. That said, Kelly does an amazing performance with so much soul. Thanks Kelly and R.I.P. Prince.

Anyone else get tired of hate filled people fat shaming Kelly? I guess if that's all they got, at the end of the day, she's probably a thousand times more blessed than the haters. I agree Kelly is beautiful inside and out I’m also sick of fat shaming I’m sick and tired I’ve never weighed more than one hundred and five I’m not bragging but I’m sick and tired of being asked are you anorexic or the stares and whispers behind my back it’s genetic people all the woman in my family are slim and small boned sad thing I can eat like a trucker and not gain weight I’m also plagued with health problems when I’m ill I can’t eat so I lose weight why as woman no matter what are being body shamed enough we never talk like that about men

purple rain is one of those legendary songs that will never grow old and is timeless. Kelly did a damn good job covering a very difficult song. I'm sure prince god rest his soul would approve of this rendition. RIP Prince he may be gone but he will live on due to his musical genius.

Of all of the people that attempt this song this has to be the best one I have seen so far. She misses out the bits that do not fit for her, alters the length but still maintains the core of the song. Genius.

Marquis Jones: I've heard Jessie J's, Demi's and Adam Levine's (AND Pat Monahan's) versions and, in my opinion, Demi's was the worst. It was OK, not great. Jessie J's was the best but this version is great too, and I think Kelly Clarkson has an incredible voice.
