100%. Watching Keith Urban absolutely lose it and bawl, was so heavy... Not to mention Kelly was pregnant with her 2nd baby during that performance. I'm so proud at how she performed that night. It's SO difficult to sing when you're emotional! She absolutely killed that performance!
@WizardPandora4 жыл бұрын
She wrote this after her daughter (River) was born about her father (Kelly's father, who did abandon her) and her husband (Brandon) restored her faith in men that fathers could stay and be great, they now have 2 children, River and Remington. They've been married almost 8yrs.

I remember when I heard this for the first time. My “father” is an abusive, alcoholic narcissist who I haven’t had any communication with in nearly 4 years. My mom walked into my room with tears in her eyes and said “play this. She’s telling your story. You have a voice speaking for you, baby.” She walked out so I could be alone and I played it. As soon as it started I started sobbing. It felt so good to finally feel understood. I am forever grateful for this song because in some of my darkest moments, it was a light.

As a girl /woman whose father has chosen to be absentee most of my life, I have learned that his choice stems from his own insecurity and shame....but it still hurts all the same. The hardest part about watching Kelly sing this on the American Idol final show (2016) is knowing that the man (her husband) who "picked her up" eventually let her down, too. The amazing thing is how Kelly perseveres through it all and continues to spread love to so many people.💖

this song is about her father walking out and abandoning her when she was 6 and her husband now, being a good father and showing her that a man CAN be a good father and he can stay :) Her American Idol performance is the one to watch... super super emotional
@Aaliyah014 жыл бұрын
This is based on her father leaving her and her husband coming into her life and building her up and never leaving her and her daughter that you see at the end. She also says that she'll never abandon her and will put her first and that line if about her daughter..

Kelly's dad and mom got divorced when Kelly was six. Since then, Kelly has tried to have a relationship with her father, but he didn't want to. Her father passed away in 2018. But Kelly got married to Brandon Blackstock and they have four children. The older two, Savannah and Seth, are from Brandon's previous marriage, and River and Remington are the two they both have together. Kelly claims all four. Brandon is the person Kelly's talking about putting the pieces back together. He's a great father to their children. Thanks for the reaction to this video!

This is actually about her husband never leaving her daughter. But I personally think it can be about a step father too. My sperm donor left me too, so my step dad who is my DAD raised me and I dedicated this song to him. He filled all the voids I had in my heart from that man not wanting me.. great reaction... I see you have never reacted to Dimash.. he is the best singer.. wonderful voice and full of emotion.. he is from kazickstan, 26, 6 octave voice sings in 12 languages and plays 8 instruments... His signature song is s.o.s sung in the singer in 2017. It's a Chinese singing competition that invites only established artist's and dimash was actually a wild card on the show and blew them away.. it's a song sung in French... Or if you prefer a english song first he sings The show must go on. A queen cover, or hello the lionel richie version. Or all by myself... Can you please do a reaction.. thank you... this song hits a spot that is unexplainable. me and my 2 sisters have 2 different dads and to see what my sisters dad had put them through in the past hurts me. they had to see him get arrested multiple times. he showed up to my youngest sisters birth high on drugs. he broke her arm at 3yr old. he dislocated my mom shoulders. and after all that he walks out and decides to come back 7 years later which is unnecessary. he’s put my family through hell. but now my stepdad has taken the girls in with open arms. and as an only daughter to my dad, he’s welcomed my sisters into his life as well. this is so inspirational😭♥️

This summarizes my life. My father was half ass my father til I was 13 then basically ghosted me and it truly took my husband to show me I was worth it. I had 2 children with a guy who wasn't worth it but thankfully my husband reentered my life and showed me and my boys that we are worth it and we deserve love that doesn't require us to jump through ridiculous hoops. I married a wonderful man who is a sailor and I be damn if my father didn't try to make hella nice after. Once he realized nah I don't have time for that no more he has shown his true side but intentional mistaking my husband as Mexican knowing full damn well he is Puerto Rican. We know he does it because he knows it's how to get under my husband's skin. Sucks to be my sperm donor because my husband nor me refuses to engage
