Kelly Clarkson revealed for the first time that she used medication for her recent weight loss, but said it was not Ozempic. “My doctor chased me for like two years and I was like, ‘No, I'm afraid of it,’” she says during an interview with Whoopi Goldberg. NBC’s Chloe Melas reports for TODAY.

Why do celebrities need to publicize what meds they take or strategies they employ to get or be healthy? I wouldn't expect my best friend to divulge such info. Why should anyone expect someone famous to? They're allowed to have some privacy.

She likely said that because there is such judgement around weight and weight loss medicines. Look at the backlash they receive when they disclose the truth. In addition to that, it's no one else's business. She's not required to tell you what worked for her. Besides that, everyone's weight loss journey is different. Just because something worked for one person does not mean it will work for you. There are plenty of people who have used the shots and it did not work for them. Others did keto, IF, etc and what works differs person to person. So from that standpoint, it does not matter what she did because it may not apply to you anyways. Until people stop being shamed for their weight and then being further shamed for how they choose to fix it, they will continue to not disclose the full story.

I'm glad she finally admitted it. She was saying earlier that she changed her diet and was walking a lot more since she moved to New York City. She struggled with weight on and off over the years, as many women do, and then miraculously she took off all this weight? It didn't sound right? Glad she came clean

@@user-bi1vs8uj1qNot really she never said verbally that she wasn’t taking anything to help. She just never said anything about the drug because she knows how the industry and public are. They would twist everything without knowing why she took the drug in the first place. And on top of that, taking a drug like she is, you don’t just lose the weight, she definitely had to change her diet and exercise like her doctor said. She never lied because she just didn’t disclose the medication part of it.

And if she was “lying” then why would she tell it out of her own lips on national television. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know if someone wanted to lie about it they wouldn’t turn around and say “I’m on a medication that helps” it’s like taking steroids, if you don’t work out then you’ll never build muscle. You don’t know what she has done and you don’t know her medical history. There’s no lie. Please show me one Centinela of evidence that she said she hasn’t taken medication?

DUH!!!!! I mean...she was overweight for 10 years then comes back after 1 summer and is super thin....Like who didn't already know? I think there should be no shame related to how you lose weight. I think she looks amazing so good for her!!

I feel she should have been honest and not say it was all to keto gummies that she lost all the weight and every one buying them with believing we would loose all the weight in a month or two After hearing she had meds too I no longer will purchase gummies keto, I've been on them for a month and haven't loss any weight and I eat right exercise constantly, in fact when I heard about Kelly today disappointed she didn't be honest because if she was I would never bought the product and I'm sure many of you feel the same . 🤔

I dropped 30lb in 2 months just by cutting out all soft drinks and sugar. I was 44 at the time and did not change anything else in my diet or me level of physical activity which was zero to begin with. Of course everyone's body is different but it made me realize that sugar intake was a HUGE contributor for weight gain.

People need to understand something Kelly was pre- diabetic … which these meds are made for people who are pre- diabetic and diabetic…. So literally no one should be attacking her for using the medication for it’s true purpose, she just lost weight due to using it as well

women with insulin resistant PCOS exist. i've gained 20lbs in such a short time and i'm an active person with poor eating habits. i'm on metformin because of my insulin issues. ppl should understand that there are other aspects of blood sugar control and diseases that affect it as well as weight

I too am on metformin and have lost 10kg as I was diagnosed a year ago with type 2 diabetes. I have been told that once I lose another 10kg that my diabetes status should go back to normal.

I'd say Mounjaro since she's been on it for a while and it's meant for prediabetes. Zep is just a rebrand to gain FDA approval specifically for weight loss and that didn't happen until Dec 2023

I was 246lbs. Healthier eating choices and exercise helped me. Also getting out of a marriage that wasn't working too. I never heard of the weight loss Rx Mounjaro. I will talk to my doctor's to see if it would be good for me. After two Gestational diabetes pregnancies I am 50% more likely to get type 2 diabetes. Also my Grandma had to take insulin daily. That scares me too. My step mom took me to a nutritionist that put me in a casein-free diet. It's been very difficult to follow. I did not find out until 50 year's of age that I'm lactose intolerant. It's been a journey for 8 year's. Glad to know what I know now. Thanks. Kelly and Oprah. You're women people trust to look up to.

I tell people this too, people become famous to "make it" or "feel important" or "to be known" and will do just about anything to get there. They don't call it the casting couch for nothing. I think the social media "influencer" era has caused people to forget that if a person wanted to make it, they had to "scratch" someone's back to get it. Anyway, I am starting to ramble!! Back in 2021, I was misdiagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, not only once but twice. In my case, I was losing weight quite quickly, even before my diagnosis. I was and still am a relatively healthy person. I was overweight many years ago, but this was around about the time I was healthy, so when I was losing weight, I wasn't aware of it. I was given a medication called 'Gliclazide' I was told by my doctor that it stops the body from taking the sugar. I live in the Uk, so I was 12 stone 5 lbs and I went down to 9 and a half stone, through not only personal stress that I was experiencing at the time, but diabetes was not helping either, so there was no sole contributor it was pretty much, 'all the things'. I was told about my new diagnosis last year, I now have "LADA" which is a latent type 1 diabetes, I take long and short-acting insulin, and certain medications and have a sensor as well, which helps a ton! Well, that's it!

In this instance she's done everything right and I respect her for that. Having pre- existing conditions of thyroid and diabetes she was in the care of a doctor when this came to light. He advised her wisely with the medication. She also made changes to her diet and livestyle changes talking about it in a positive mannor! I think she looks great! " You go girl"!

Kelly likely maintains a healthy diet and, as she mentions, engages in regular walks around the city. I trust Kelly's honesty with her fans; however, weight loss ultimately relies on discipline. You can try all the magic pills or shots, but success comes down to having the right mindset.

A family member of mine avoided the doctor for YEARS until it all came to a head in the ER. They were placed on thyroid and diabetes pills. She also changed her diet! That combo helped her lose over 80 lbs so far. And the diet is important, no matter what.

I’m not sure why there are so many negative comments here on why she didn’t “admit” that she’s on medication. Sad that we can’t give celebrities grace where health is concerned. Furthermore, she said she was pre diabetic then waiting another 2 years before addressing it so, for all we know, she could have become full blown diabetic by then. So maybe she wasn’t taking it solely for weight loss but because she needed it medically. We’ve all heard of HIPAA - she doesn’t need to share her health issues. When something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. Back in the early 80’s I took Dexatrim, not to lose weight, but to help ease hunger pangs because I could not afford an adequate diet. It worked fantastic, but of course, turned out that one of the ingredients was causing hemorrhagic stroke in young women. So the formula changed, and so did it’s effectiveness. I really wonder about this Ozempic, and it’s off shoots. Time will tell.

People have been saying for years she's obese and needs to do something because of health problems in the future and she kept saying oh I'm happy with the way I am blah blah blah and then this is what always happens they lose the weight and see how happy they are but they never want to admit they're unhappy when they're big elephants

Yeah. A bit ridiculous, actually. We ALL knew she was full of crap saying "it wasn't ozempic, but I made lifestyle changes" and just outright choosing to lie about something so obviously apparent when you lose weight that quickly... And it's not just a massive insult to the intelligence of people who follow her and have similar health struggles, but from everything else she said, it sounds like she mainly functions under some kind of lifelong commitment to denial; something I've always suspected of her. Constantly ignoring or minimizing her health issues, saying how nothing bothers her when it comes to her body. Then why lie? Oh "I was a little overweight". Over 200 pounds for 5'3 is not a little. And just downplaying the fact that she was pre-diabetic. She's always seemed to act like it's more important that she doesn't show it bothers her than acknowledging it wasn't good for her to ignore her doctors for years.

My thing is, if you're going to be such a public figure and you choose to discuss your health and engage in a conversation about it, don't also choose blatant dishonesty in the same stroke when it's such a serious topic not just for you but for other people to discuss and get information about. It's just such a disregard for people who aren't protected by the celebrity bubble and just wanting to keep her image intact, which is so hypocritical when she portrays herself as this champion for real women and body positivity. It would be no surprise to me that she's just always been a plant... And Hollywood pays for that.

@@loveforeignaccentsplease show me where she ever denied taking medication. Also, from what she said we don’t know that she is taking an actual weight loss pill. It’s a pill to help her break down sugar since her body doesn’t do it correctly. She has never once said she doesn’t listen to her dr and she’s losing all this weight on her own. Just cause someone doesn’t discloses their personal health profile doesn’t mean they are denying or hiding or lying. She literally said in the video she’s taking a medication. This is the first time she ever has addressed it and it’s coming from her lips! So why would she say that if she’s “lying?” Where is the lie? Lol. You act like someone found her medicine cabinet and doxxed her. lol.

Enough about weight loss and celebrities. Ok yea...it's great that they feel good and are doing something for their health with diet and exercise. But really folks?! We are at the beginning stages of some serious scary dystopian stuff globally-speaking and they are still reporting on this? Enough of the privileged people's so-called problems. Seriously Oprah?! We have heard about your ups and downs for so long. Can you just come out of the narcissism and start offering to help humanity...your local community...fund climate change research...help people get affordable housing? Maybe don't buy up all the Ozempic so those less fortunate have access to the meds for serious reasons? Maybe help them afford it? I mean when does it end?When do they grow up? Is anyone else tired of celebs going on and on in their privilege. We have supported them for so long and now that the middle class life (teacher, nurses, caregivers etc.) is being decimated with the threat of living in tents with their families etc.if they dont work 3 jobs not to mention the other crazy things going on in the world...I have yet to see the big celebs come forward with initiatives to help and give back in a way that is lasting. Most people have no idea just how rich the big celebs are...we are talking hundreds of millions and if they stop working today their money will make them more money non-stop. Plus the residuals they get from past work could pay for multiple families to live off of for years. I just can't care about the "plight" of celebs and their personal issues anymore. Watch global news and you will understand that Americans spend way too much time focused on this stuff when they need to be prepared for what is coming. Oprah and the others wont suffer like the rest of us because they are rich. Focus on yourselves and make plans for diff scenarios. Stuff is changing fast...

I love Kelly and it is no ones business how she lost weight. People trust her so when she said walking and eating high protein, I am sure she influenced a ton of people to live a healthier lifestyle. Which is great but when they do not lose 40lbs in a few months, people are going to get discouraged and think that they are failing. She should of said I did a combination of things and leave it at that.

It's sad seeing all these celebrities using ozempic because their too lazy to do it themselves. Ozempic is for diabetics, and morbidly obese people that are trying to lose weight and need that extra push. But they can't get any because you have all these celebrities buying all of them first. This is just my opinion but i think Kelly is on ozempic because she's been struggling with her weight for a long time and all of a sudden ozempic is on the rise and she's really skinny now just like Oprah and Sharon Ozzborn and many others. It needs to stop it's unfair to the people that actually need it.
