Watching Abby get angry is like watching a puppy barking at the back door

Abby had an entire rant but I have NO idea what she was on about. Typical.

He's not a private person. He's not just another spouse.

I think that "off the record" is null and void when you threaten someone.

Conway’s assistant was negotiating an interview with Conway with the reporter. I separate interview. But when Conway snatched the phone away from her assistant & started talking, the reporter considered that on the record because the reporter didn’t agree to the phone call being off record just the upcoming interview with Conway. The reporter was in the right. The phone conversation was continuous from the assistant to Conway.

It was VERY inappropriate for her to bully the reporter. Keep in mind, the Washington Examiner is a conservative newspaper.

"He gets his power through me, if you haven't noticed." Yeah, they're definitely having marital problems. What a demoralizing thing to say about the person you're supposed to love. I probably would never date a Trump supporter, much less someone central to his administration, so I can only imagine their challenges. Kellyanne is one of those "key-player turncoats" (a phrase I'm working on): someone who was a huge Trump critic during the campaign but now rides the hardest for him. These people are hypocrites, opportunists, and they are essential to Trump's presidency. They use their mouthpiece for whatever is politically expedient, and they're effective. However, that being said Kellyanne and her husband probably were ON the same page at one point but she went turncoat when he became the primary, and I have a feeling he doesn't like who she is becoming. Kellyanne seems like a broken person in general, but I think her husband speaks to the consciousness that she truly has. She doesn't like Trump, but she's doing this for now. I think her vision of the future is basically non-existent. It's like she's constantly running on fumes and barely surviving. She's here for the ride and her husband will most definitely divorce her before this is over.

When you refer to your husband using his complete name, that's when you know your marriage is a sham.

George Conway need to leave his wife! It’s seems like Kellyanne appreciates her job more than her husband.

I agree with Sunny; ‘off the record’ is culturally binding, so this seems a little unprofessional. However, this administration has treated the media with such contempt the usual courtesies are no longer being extended.

I love how Kellyanne is pretty much trying to assert “girl power” over the phone in order to gain sympathy from the _female_ reporter, by saying that it’s wrong to try and undercut another woman based upon whom she’s married to, when that’s literally all she did whenever she spoke about Hillary Clinton and Huma Abedin.

Normally when you tell someone "it's off the record" you don't proceed to threaten them. "This is off the record. I'm going to punch you in the face." That doesn't seem right.

Nothing is " off the record" when you threaten and intimidate a person.

In response to Sunny's issue; they didn't PUBLISH this call as a news story after agreeing it was off the record, right? It was leaked by whatever means, but that's not the same thing even if it ultimately comes to the same effect. Besides, even if the call is off the record, a White House official threatening a reporter based on their coverage seems pretty newsworthy to me.

Off the record is something that all of us journalists rely on - I’d never break that rule. It’s a given that if you say something to a journalist, they’ll inevitably share it with their colleagues and boss, so Everyone back at the ranch knows what You said off the record - but the journalist/media outlet doesn’t share it with readers. It’s a matter of trust - I’ve heard all kinds of things off the record that were useful to Me to know, and which perhaps gave better clarity or context to some matter, as well as guiding how to proceed, perhaps, but no, I haven’t repeated what was said. Do that once, and that person will Never trust you again, and you run the risk of breaking similar future trusts. However, in this case, I’d query whether it was agreed with KA herself that what SHE said was off the record, versus her assistant. That’s a pretty significant distinction - the journalist may have agreed to stay OTR with KA’s assistant, but then if KA suddenly barged onto the call... that’s not quite the same thing, or agreement. In that context, I think I’d have included KA’s call too, as - based on what I saw here - it didn’t seem like She had some expected OTR nod, just her assistant. That’s a key difference.
