We exist out here! I'm 48 and been with my partner who for 8 years. He is 28. Can't pick your soulmate, they just are who they are, but end up being everything you never even knew you wanted. People are so obsessed with youth and beauty that they place everything on it, but we are whole human beings, complex and multilayered. Being with a younger person isn't all hot sex, it's hard work. It would be just as hard being with a middle aged man, maybe harder. I loved the end of the movie because you realize what you miss if you don't take your chance when it comes. Nice to feel represented in a film, it's relatively rare.

I have experienced this, he was 21 and I was 33. The hate I got from the younger girls was unbelievable, thank God the Internet was still limited to Facebook! In addition, very few people got how much we understood each other and could spend hours talking, watching movies, or just in comfortable silence. They thought it was all about sex and could not grasp that we would simply communicate with looks or subtle gestures in a crowded room. In the end I ended things, it got even harder when he was getting ready to leave for the USA and listed me as future spouse or something similar. I thought his father was going to run me over. So I ended it but it took us years to move on. Whenever a guy would do or say something weird, mean or stupid, I would think "P.... would never do/say/act like this, he never has!" He had the same problem, his mom told me that because our relationship was really great, we both raised the bar for our future partners. And yes, it is true: People hate happy women, esp other women.
