Here is a woman that stood up to the suits (not just men but women too), took control of her career, sacrificed sales and popularity to stay true to her work and vision ... and is rarely recognized for her work or for the fact that she is still going strong despite any support from Radio or a strong commercial outlet .. SHE deserves all the life time achievement awards that the Music Industry has to offer - She is Rock n' Roll Royalty and She is Pop Culture ... She is, Cyndi Lauper.

The key to life is like Kelly said Cyndi has helped many people move forward because she is UNIQUE. As a Disabled Woman who is also a lesbian, she helped me see at a young age that is it OK to be different & love myself for who I was, first as a person born with a disability and later in life as a lesbian. Thank you Cyndi. Word will never be able to fill in how much you really have helped me be the strong role model that I am today.

SIngle moms to disabled children who are now adults are not able to get help either. No longer fitting the "family" profile. My son lost his SSI when he turned 18. I am disabled and waiting to hear about disability for myself. No money coming in at all. But Minneapolis has all shelters full so keeping someone in a home is not what they look at. Just those on the streets already and no money for that either. I just want to keep us under a roof and survive. But how do you explain to an autistic 19 year old boy with the mind of a child that there is no Christmas. He doesn't even understand why I can't buy the food he wants. Food stamps has to last. I don't even eat when he is at school. If I run out of food stamps, food costs money needed for rent, electricity, laundry, toilet paper. Tough for everyone. But hey we have the artist I first had a cassette tape from, and the artist who's cd is in my portable cd player to help with sensory when I run errands or go to the dentist.

You're completely missing the point - understanding the demographics of homelessness and the reasons for that is extremely important when combatting it.
@amandabell6356
@amandabell6356 4 жыл бұрын
If you want to beat homelessness, you have to combat every reason a person might be homeless. People are not all homeless for the same reason, so blanket solutions will not solve the epidemic. Also, with gay people being a tiny percentage of the population, that's a pretty huge deal that so many are homeless compared to straight kids.

You either ARE or you AREN'T.". Then you just went on saying the TRUTH, "WHY would ANYONE CHOOSE THAT? To be discriminated against, TEASED horribly during school, be SHAMED and Truly HATED, (ALL Those things and MORE), But for me, EVEN GOD has condemned you in the BIBLE! I Agree with the Bible GOD made men & women for each Other. Yet Love ❤️ All People, Don’t kick out Loved ones or anyone for their Sexuality. I don’t want anyone pushing their closed minded views on Others. Jesus Showed Mercy To All Even this Abstinent Heterosexual isn’t Perfect not even 1 thing in me. So I want to Just Love All Persons Who Have a Living Soul.

That's great that you believe in not kicking people out for who they are and you say you believe in love, but I've gotta say, your belief that "God made men and women to be together" still screams, "Love the sinner not the sin" to me, and I'm guessing most people with semi-existent reasoning capability. That's STILL part of the problem, because you still haven't accepted that that's who we're born to be. Also, I know of what I speak. I was born and raised in the church. I've heard this countless times before, many times within my own family. Why would one choose to be minimized for who they are their whole life? If it was as simple as pushing a button to change your sexuality, why would children be killing themselves for it? Thanks for not immediately coming from a hateful place, truly, but loving the sinner not the sin isn't the solution either.

@nicked_fenyx
@nicked_fenyx 4 жыл бұрын
I noticed that too... Ironically, pertaining to the topic she was covering, nowadays many parents are willing to accept their teens being lesbian or gay, but not trans - they kick kids out for being trans who would have been accepted if "just" gay. I can't tell you how many times I've heard trans youth talking about coming out whose parents won't accept who they are and repeatedly ask them why they can't just be gay, or if maybe they're just a confused gay person rather than actually trans. Given that, it seems kind of odd to leave out the "trans" in LGBTQ when speaking of teens being kicked out of home. Also, as pertains to homeless shelters refusing LGBTQ individuals, again she needs to consider that even a shelter that accepts gay/lesbian/bi individuals will often refuse a trans person. There has been a lot of news lately about women's shelters refusing trans women entry. So it's a bit odd to forget those stories, too. That said, I do think she meant well. She's simply thinking first of those she relates to most and forgetting to mention others she probably also would care about as well. It just sucks on a show this huge that a statement which semi-erases some of those who are most in need today was allowed to pass uncorrected. Kelly could easily have put on her semi-confused, polite look and said, "Oh, and bi, trans, and queer, right? That's what the other letters stand for?" That would have helped a lot without seeming offensive, but oh well. I still applaud Cindi for doing what she does.

@Hope Ful Actually no it can't be handled in the same framework - people are homeless for a variety of different reasons and they are going to continue to be homeless unless we address the underlying reasons for that. A teen who is homeless for being gay vs. someone who is homeless because of drug addiction require assistance in different ways. Blanket solutions are just going to keep putting people back on the streets.

Lobo Wynn there are countless organizations available to homeless veterans as well. At the core of all of these organizations wishing to reach out to our nations homeless is a desire to help human beings. To say one PERSON is any more or less deserving of help in a time of need is outrageous-especially considering the root of their situation is typically the same. PTSD, mental health concerns, substance abuse and addiction, and history of mental/emotional/physical abuse are just as real for homeless LGBTQ youth as they are for homeless and veterans. Keep in mind that veterans fought for the freedoms of LGBTQ just as they fought for the freedom of a “hero behind a keyboard” to make disgusting comparisons such as yours.

While I agree with helping veterans, I was married to one and I worked for the military for years, calling LGBTQ people “freaks” just makes you look like a massive asshole. Why can’t everyone be helped?! Cyndi Lauper is helping homeless youth. There are several organizations helping homeless veterans. Maybe instead of calling these people “freaks” open your mind up to the fact that there are all kinds of people in the world and some are different than you. The LGBTQ community has zero affect on your life, so stop being hateful and use your time to help homeless veterans if you’re so passionate about it. I guarantee you served besides multiple LGBTQ people who couldn’t come out.

To think!! I am a 52yo male watching this short video and learning about things I'll never know the experience of, and do not always agree with the subject matter/entities mentioned! But I am truly thankful for the wisdom that Ms. Lauper has, and the energy to help those not understood by the ones who should the most! I've been homeless and know THAT experience, but not because of my beliefs or orientation(Straight)! And not at young age! Ms. Clarkson is the most beautiful Lady I've ever seen, but my mind was paying attention to these ladies words, not their beauty! Two great vocalist and one great Actress I pray can get things rolling to bring that 40% down to 0% with their wisdom and resources! These young people are thrown out of home because of their orientation for ONE main reason! People fear what they don't understand, and as Ms. Lauper put it" throw our youth away " , thinking it will make things change about a person's inner self to fit their desire or beliefs! Best to these beautiful women and may they be blessed for their giving! Ya'll be good Ya's hear! Sincerely Snake, or William if ya prefer! Got name 🐍 before I was born lol! ✌️❤️🫂🙏🐍
