Now that is a tricky little S.O.B. to play.. But you nailed it. Now I'm going to go crazy trying to figure how to to do that right and up to speed.. Thank you for breaking this down. It's amazing how this little lick barely 30sec long sums up the genius of Joe Walsh. He's one of the most musical guitarists I've ever heard. I literally think if he fell down the stairs with a guitar in his hands some amazing lick would happen.

Joe Walsh is a guitar playing God. Great life story and tremendous achievements. Love the riff and in a year, with lots of practice, I might be able to play the. There are some great leads to master as well. WE HAVE MORE WORK TO DO ON THIS TUNE. Thanks a bunch.

The first time I heard this song was in the movie Detroit Rock City. That riff fit so perfectly with the scene it was in.

I always had a problem replicating the intro for this song (not the main riff) -- this greatly breaks it down!

Joe is the King! He's the only reason I don't change the station when an Eagles song comes on.At least from Hotel California and on. Before that I'll listen to Take it to the Limit pretty much exclusively. Joe is such an underrated guitarist

Hey KDA, could you try to tackle the "Life In Dark Water" solo by Al Stewart, played by Tim Renwick? It's a great solo and there are no tutorials of it. Also if you could try to get a similar tone. Cheers!

This is a bit encouraging. I taught myself how to play this before youtube was invented. I'm a bass player by choice, but I had borrowed a friend's guitar for a few days (back in 1990ish) and learned this song, I figured out pinch harmonics, and that lead me into learning "Territories" by Rush. Anyway, I play it exactly how you just showed. I generally watch tutorials to see teachers "teaching" wrong ways to play.
