When you finally break out from days of hiking in the "green tunnel" and get that first glimpse of the balds and the sun and the view, something almost therapeutic and magical happens. Suddenly, in an instant, you forget the pain of the blisters, the gnawing hunger, and the brutal climb. Instantly you are transported into another dimension of experience, where the "ooh and aah" reactions to Nature's awesomeness of beauty and grandeur lead you to understand why The Great Spirit of Creation, maker of all things, stepped back from His newly created works and "saw that It was good." And you're in full agreement.

Hi stumbled on your channel looking at Kayaking Silver Springs(this spring) saw you through hiked the AT. We life just down from Carvers Gap(drive to work everyday over Hughes Gap). It was so nice to see your pictures on days 19-23. Glad you enjoyed our mountain. Then down to Watagua Lake. Then your return trip to snowboard at Sugar Mtn. And Mtn Harbour. We eat there during the summer when they have the food truck open.

I've hiked to the Cloudland site from my back door, so this video is like my backyard. It was a helluva bushwack. Shame the barn is off limits now. It was the best shelter on the trail. I thru-hiked in 1991 (yes, back in the 1900's). About 20 years ago I day hiked from Carver's to 19E and there was a giant longhorn steer standing on the trail on Hump Mt. The forest service was trying different ways to keep the balds clear. It's fun watching your videos!

I really loved the views today, especially when it was just the view and the wind. So awesome we got two clips with the band in the background! Alabama getaway is such an under rated song. Welcome to Virginia! That is an insane hostel, that patio OMG! #yardgoals. Thanks for bringing us along today. I hope tomorrow’s miles are kind. Keep truckin’ and be well. -Grateful

@djg5950
@djg5950 3 жыл бұрын
Three people had a reason. It doesn't matter whether it's up or down they both count the same. P.S. This in no way means that I thumbs down any of her videos. I love her and think she's doing an awesome job. The reasons are many and if you really want to know why someone would dislike a video I can list several reasons for you.
@mb692100
@mb692100 3 жыл бұрын
@@djg5950 I'd love to see your list. Given human nature being what it is, my guess is that most dislikes are not so much a reflection of the content, but some personal animosity. For this channel, maybe it's disgruntled ex-boyfriends, jealous friends (or adversaries) or just unhappy people who like to like to spew out their venom on others. Maybe it's even an attempt to diminish the channel's profitability.
@tomhorn8556
@tomhorn8556 3 жыл бұрын
@@djg5950 oh I know; it’s probably some professional photographer/videographer that thinks the volume is too high or too low, camera angles weren’t as they would have done it or lighting was off, but the sunrise, scenery and good vibes were priceless!
@djg5950
@djg5950 3 жыл бұрын
@@mb692100 I think the 3 you mention are probably most common. I don't think just hitting the dislike button is "spewing venom". It's just an opinion for whatever reason. Spewing venom is leaving a nasty comment. I've read that "dislike" in no way diminishes profitability. Actually just the opposite. There is a guy (photography channel) who did a video on how much he makes off his videos and tells how it works. Total views, number of comments, and "like" or "dislike" combined (matters not which one is clicked on), ads watched, etc. all add to the profits.
@mb692100
@mb692100 3 жыл бұрын
@@djg5950 Going to stick with the "spewing venom" theory based on the fact that there are people out there who just love to do damage...like a vandal, whose only motive is to hurt or damage. As to the dislikes and profitability, my understanding is that it's not just the number of dislikes, but the ratio of like/dislike. In other words, say a vid has 100 likes and 1 dislike; then there's almost no impact. But say a vid has 100 likes and 95 dislikes, then there's real damage. How YT computes all that is quite mysterious, and until some insider leaks something, it's really hard to tell what exactly is included in their profitability formula. . If I had to pick the most likely reason for dislikes on this channel, it would be jealousy/animosity, followed closely by disgruntled ex-boyfriends. Who really knows for sure? But I would love to know what Kelly's guess would be.. ...Oh, just thought of one more. Could be those who don't like her Christian faith, but again it's all guess work.

There is a reason that the Smoky Mountain National Park is the most visited national park in the US. It is gorgeous land. When you pair that with the Blue Ridge Mountains and Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park you have something really special to see on the AT.
@djg5950
@djg5950 3 жыл бұрын
The GSMNP has the most visitors because of it's location. Yellowstone is the #1 National Park, but it's a 2 or 3 day drive for most people so has less visitors.
@Mosely
@Mosely 3 жыл бұрын
@@djg5950 So you say that Yellowstone is #1 and then proceed to say why it has less visitors. It can't be both. You can use whatever reason you want to it doesn't change the fact that Smoky Mtn. Nat. Park has more visitors. As far as most beautiful or interesting or whatever other reason will always be subjective.
@djg5950
@djg5950 3 жыл бұрын
@@Mosely Totally went over your head. Put GSMNP in Wyoming and Yellowstone in Tn. and we'll see the numbers change to a wider visitor gap.
@djg5950
@djg5950 3 жыл бұрын
I looked it up and the Grand Canyon has the second most visitors of all the National Parks. Again: location.
@Mosely
@Mosely 3 жыл бұрын
@@djg5950 It didn't go over my head. You don't like that I said GSMNP was the most visited National Park without first caveating it with "but it's only that way because of location" You seem to feel that's very important that we all know that in your opinion other parks are better and only lack in visitors is because they are harder to get to. So you do you and shout that from the rooftops if it makes you feel better. I'll just be over here showing actual statistics instead of feelings.
