I’ve been waiting for this video! So glad you made it. I live in the Midwest but we have family in that area and have been there many times. You captured the purity and beauty of the experience in a way that I never can. While I was watching your video I was replaying the memories of my 12 and 10 year old sons floating down the river carefree, playing on the sandbars, and looking for manatees when we were there in July. I had a smile on my face the entire video.

Kelly that was an awesome video. I think you and James should move to FL. and make this your home base of operations. If you ever kayak the Suwannee River, there are freshwater crystal-clear springs that are feeders, that you can kayak right up the spring and have a spring to yourself. There are camping areas that have screened in platforms for camping. Google, Suwannee River screened in camping. You have so much to explore. When I was working I had days off during the week best time to kayak or play golf. If you have any questions you know how to get a hold of me. Congrats on the 34,000 peeps. I was one of the first follower right after your layout of camping equipment for the AT. I think you were in California at that time. Stay well and be safe.

Hi Kelly, Happy to see your video post today. It means you survived your 2nd Florida hurricane. As I comment, I will watch and stop to comment. First off, I love seeing my home state through your eyes and your experiences in my playground. It's been a lot of years since I made it down to Weekie Wachee and it's only 40 mins. away from where I live on the Tsala Apopka Chain of Lakes in Citrus County. I just had to pause video again to LOL. Sorry, I bet you know which part of the video I paused it on. 😂Now, back to the glamping. What a nice glamping place to stay. Another awesome video. Thank you for taking us with you. Now that the temperatures have started dropping here in Florida, the manatees will start migrating from the coastal waters up into the Coastal Springs/Rivers. Crystal River (especially around the Three Sisters Springs) though it will be more touristy in the area during this time. The middle of week should be better. I just did a quick checking online and see that a new glampground called "Fishcreek Glampground" opens January 1st. 2023. Looks nice from photos and it's off Ozello Trail just South of Crystal River. Ozello is one of my favorite playgrounds. It's pretty good about having plenty of manatees in the colder months swimming right by you. Keep up the great videos.

That paddle down the river looked sooooo relaxing! There's nothing quite like a day spent lazily paddling on calm water with the sunshine above 🤗 I stayed at a chicken farm hipcamp this past summer for 3 nights, and it was nice to wake up each morning to the roosters roostering, and having fresh eggs, that I got to collect myself, for breakfast. Hipcamp is Ait BnB but you pitch your tent on someone's farm basically. I also stayed at a goat farm for 2 nights. Highly recommend if you have any Hipcamps near you!

For manatees keep checking Blue Springs State Park in Orange City, as it gets cold hundreds gather. You can camp there but if you want a more unique experience check out the nearby state park of Hontoon Island for primitive camping. You can ride across the river in a ferry or kayak over. Hontoon has hiking trails and sits on a route to blue springs by kayak.

When the temperature drops the manatees come up in the springs for the 72° water temps. Not that they don’t come up other times just more likely to see them after a “cold” snap. Enjoyed the video! We paddle from Rogers park almost to the the park and then float back down.

I do that float a half dozen times per year all the way to Rogers Park. Uber is usually only about $10 to get back to the launch, the same price as parking at Rogers Park. An inflatable paddle board with kayak seat works best for that situation, otherwise you would need a lock for your kayak if you are solo as most Ubers wouldn't have a kayak rack.

You can set in at Rogers Park. Parking is $5 and then you can kayak the whole thing no time limit. You can swim at Rogers Park too. The manatee are there in the winter. A lot of them.
