😂I have to laugh! After section hiking, whenever my husband and I see a stream or creek, we also call it a water source... even if it's a day hike and we don't need to filter water😂

I hope you got James some aloe with lidocaine. Ouch! There was a lot of variation to the scenery this vid. Lots of pretty flowers. You met new friends, too. Florida seems pretty friendly. Thank you for sharing.

I discovered and traveled up Burnt Store Rd. in Cape Coral yesterday, that's probably where the burnt groceries came from.

I hiked part of the AP back in 1973 BY compass. Not many clear trails back then. Big fan of Walter David Thoreau.

Almost there !!! I've enjoyed watching you 2 hiking together this last leg. That creek dip James took was perfect on the sunburn ! Several of those creeks looked awesome 👍😎

Better to have long, highly visible and frequent trail blazes than small, hard to notice and too infrequent ones. It is a beautiful section of the trail. Poor James looks super pink with that sunburn. Glad to see the hiking group back together.

I feel so sorry for James and the sunburn. If I even look at the sun I get burned. The water looks so clean and clear. I never would have guessed that in Fl. You all stay safe and Happy Hiking ⛺️🥾🥾💞

I hope you’re enjoying these longer days. I took a cross country driving/camping trip last year, and liked the longer days, as I got into Canada (Alberta, BC, Yukon) and Alaska.

So many awesome plants! (+1 on the vlog score) I could feel that sunburn. Lately I’m all about dmso for stuff like that, but can’t have anything like DEET on your skin or it wouldn’t be good.

Wow I found your channel 4 days ago, and the first video I saw was day 62 of this hike. I went back to the beginning and watch the entire hike. You just walked by my neighborhood on this video. I am wondering now how far will it be from my house to that Burnt Grocery Creek, I really want to go there for a swim 😂

Back in eighteen and ninety three an old mullet fisherman and his wifey built a square footprint yellow pine grocery store and general merchandise up the creek a ways from the hurricane pole on the gulf where he tied up. Land rushers and hillbillies came in on buckboards and mules to get their store boughts and new metal and kegs of nails or a pocketful of fishhooks or trade skins and cornmeal. When he was in Mr. Tevepaw sat on the wide front porch in a bentwood rocker in the shade to rest, smoke a corncob and greet customers before Sam Walton was ever even born by then. One day, also long ago, as the Sun was nearly down and old Tevepaw was pickled on corn squeezins', he flipped over and posed on the planking. In the process a darned ember bumped out of his pipe and escaped across his beard into a great big bale of husks meant for matress stuffing. Well you can guess what happened next. And you're right. Dreams went up in smoke and a beautiful fire delivered the store and all up to heaven before the moon rose. In the morning an amazed mule rider going the store could only stare at the smouldering pegs that had held it all up but wasn't there anymore. Or ever again. And that that's the story of how a place came to be called Burnt Grocery Creek. (In Florida) . Of course none of this verifiable because I made it all up. But it could be true you never know.

How the Tevepaws Helped Burnt Grocery Creek Get it's Name. (revised edition). . . Back in eighteen and ninety three an old mullet fisherman named Hezekiah Tevepaw married a widow name of Pearl Sisk down in the jungles of Florida. Soon thereafter he and wifey built a tin roof square footprint yellow pine grocery store and general merchandise up the creek aways from the hurricane pole on the gulf, where he tied up. Landrushers and hillybillies came in on buckboards and mules to get their storeboughts and new metal, kegs of nails or a pocketful of fish hooks. And to trade skins, or corn for cornmeal at the gristmill. When he was in, Granpaw Tevepaw sat on the wide front porch to rest in the shade, smoke a corncob and greet customers before Sam Walton was ever even born by then. One day, also long ago, as the sun was nearly down and old Tevepaw was pickled on corn squeezins', he flipped over and posed on the planking. In the process a darned ember bumped out of his pipe and escaped across his beard into a great big bale of husks meant for matress stuffing. Well, you can guess what happened next. And you're right. Dreams went up in smoke and a beautiful fire delivered the store and all up to heaven before the moon rose. In the morning an amazed mule rider, going to the store, could only stare at the smouldering pegs that had held it all up but wasn't there anymore. Or ever again. And that's the story of how a place came to be called Burnt Grocery Creek. (In Florida.) Of course none of this is entirely verifiable because I made it all up. But it could be mainly true. You just never know.
