i promise you that Game Boy's sound chip can do better than this, see: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rseen8ylxpano4E.html this is "vanilla" GBT-Player, not the one currently included with GB Studio. The GB Studio version of GBT-Player is known as "gbt-rulz" (that is, GBT-Player with Rulz patches) and has added effects. I can't find its source in the latest version but it turns out it's moved to the GBVM repo

No insults, swears, cusses, or even slurs can accurately describe how GBT-Player has done a disservice to the Game Boy's APU with its inherent driver limitations, so I'll just say that this sound engine is "SO RETRO" personified. A shame it was so ubiquitous, probably because nothing better was around at the time that was safe for use by homebrew devs. GBT-Player author's other endeavours are perfectly fine and I'm sure the guy is decent, it's just this driver in particular has probably warped perceptions on what the Game Boy _can_ sound like And now I'm contributing to that lmao fuck
