I could never find a merman doll that I liked (that was affordable), so I rebodied this Ken with the wheelchair one Fashionista #167, and made his tail from a sparkly-sequined coin purse in the shape of a mermaid tale from the dollar store. My dad helped me secure it really well with his sewing machine and "Voila!" A Ken mermaid with color-changing tale, that can change to Ken with legs in a flash, with rooted hair and a nice face. When you wash all the gel out of his hair, it gets soft & poofy. I sort of wish they made more fantasy-type men dolls at the playline level, but I am happy with how he turned out. Kind of sad the Extra line is discontinuing. Great video. Thank you for sharing. 🌹

Love collecting Kens. This Extra Fly one quickly became a favorite for me, and even helped end my collecting hiatus. Wish Mattel would release more that are as fun and detailed as this, 'cause I agree, he's definitely just an afterthought for them, most of the time!

I saw someone use the Brandon Asian Looks doll (purple tank top and pink pants) to rebody the Travel Fly Ken, as his body color is quite close. Thanks to Enzo for the gift!!

What a lovely gift! Happy birthday! ❤ I have this Ken, and I love him! His clothes and shoes fit a curvy Barbie nicely too. Also, men can wear skirts! I hope it becomes more socially acceptable in the US.

Skirts were the norm, worn by men and women alike around the world, since prehistory. They were unisex and practical in ancient Egypt and other African countries, Greece, Mespotamia/Middle East, Rome, India, Asia, Pacific Islands/Oceania, Latin America, all across Europe (not just Scotland). It's nothing new and still perfectly acceptable in many cultures for men to wear some type of skirt or tunic. Even Jesus wore what, by today's standards, would be considered a dress.

That was then. Not now in the U.S. not acceptable unless people want to create a gender that is all feminine. An American man in a skirt? Our culture will never be accepting of that.

I think I used the short hair brunette wheelchair mtm Ken body. Comes with tropical shirt. Or the Looks Asian Ken. They're both close & would work.

Cool video as always!! I got this Ken maybe a month ago but he is still in the box. When I have some time off am going to dye his hair paint his eyes so he can look more like Tuxedo Mask.
